After a busy morning checking on the cattle
and building fence...
this afternoon I decided to stop the world
and get off at the Thread Shed
I pulled some of my hand dyes
out of the cupboard
I sliced them up into random strips
between 1 1/2 to 4 inches wide
I started with a center square
and added strips around it.....on 3 sides
I trimmed after each strip was added
Adding the blue strips...
I am going for a slightly wonky block
Adding yellow strips...
All squared up
3 blocks stitched
You can watch me piece one more:
All done and squared up
4 Blocks stitched
6 Blocks stitched
It is now 7 pm and I have stitched 7 Blocks
This is what the sewing table looks like
at quitting time....lots more strips to play with
another day!
This is what kept me busy this morning:
This is a brand new baby.....Calf 54
And...
Calf 55
These are heifers due to calve....any day:
Lots more babies....on the way!

Love your blocks. Beautiful colors. I'll come back to see how this is progressing.
ReplyDeleteThank you Tubakk. I am hoping to make this big enough for a lap size personal quilt that I can travel with.

Love the colors and pattern in this block...my daughter made a wonky quilt once and I loved it!! So much fun!!! And I agree with the 'hair' thing!!!! Yikes...didn't realize how much gray I really have!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Robbie. I am thinking this might become a lap quilt that I can take traveling with me.

Your hand-dyed fabrics are so beautiful!! This is going to make a beautiful quilt! Two beautiful new babies. Do the flies always gather around their eyes??
ReplyDeleteThank You! It is hard to resist those bright hand dyes....they make you feel good just looking at them! The flies are after moisture so they go right to the eyes. We will be putting fly tags on their ears soon and that should help with the head flies.

LuAnn
I think haircuts have become as endangered as toilet paper (was, hopefully for you)!
