Feather Table Runner...

I am in the mood for applique'

I recently purchased this feather pattern...

I cut all the feather shapes from

Jelly & Jam Fabric by Fig Tree...

The pieces are backed with fusible web...

All of the pieces have been pressed into place

on the white background fabric...

All of the shapes have been stitched

all the way around...

It is sandwiched with batting and

spray basted with 505 Spray...

I started out quilting swirls on the feathers...

I am happy with it already !

White thread on white fabric...

time for some FUN quilting

quilting shows up so nicely on fabrics

that read solid...

I had no quilting plan...

I just had FUN !

the quilt truly comes alive with

machine quilting...

This is the back side of the runner...

Working on the binding...

The Table Runner is finished...

This is the BEFORE image...

This is the AFTER image...

Quilting definitely makes the Quilt!

It's not a Quilt until it is Quilted !

Autumn Leaves Table Runner...

I spent yesterday machine quilting the

Autumn Leaves Table Runner...

Always FUN to get a project

under the needle...

machine quilting swirls...

leaves swirling in the wind

I used a gold thread and it blended nicely

with the leaves and the background...

I had lots of the green fabric, used for the

leaf stems, so made a binding with it...

I pawed through my fabric cupboards

and found this leaf fabric for backing.

I have 3 more runners ready to baste and

go under the needle.

Autumn Leaves...

We are having a beautiful, dry autumn here

in Western Oregon...

It has me inspired to create leaves...

I have enough for 4 table runners...

We were coming home from feeding

cattle this morning and I just had to

stop and take a few pictures:

This is the view of our home place

from the road...

The red maple trees in the yard are really

putting on a show...

I press some of those red leaves

to put on our Thanksgiving table each year...

We have begun feeding cattle...

The cows look forward to a fresh bale of hay...

The cattle know the sound of our vehicle

when we come to deliver the hay and they

chase us down the road to the bale feeder...

This is Eloise...

She is a yearling and will be part of our

cow herd next year.

This is Butter Cup...

We are also keeping her as a replacement heifer.

She is bred and will have her first calf next Spring.

Oh, how I love these girls !

They are so sweet and beautiful.

We look forward to seeing them each day.

Autumn Leaves Table Runner...

The leaves are just beginning to turn

color here in Western Oregon...

I am motivated to make this

Autumn Leaves table runner...

These are leftover scraps from a fall quilt

I made for our bed last year...

You can see the

The work table is....set for FUN!

I have a few of the leaf units prepared...

This unit is the "kite" shape

and can be tricky to piece perfectly...

The pattern comes with this acrylic template

so that you can trim the

kite unit with precision...

All 4 units are completed...

The kite unit lines up perfectly

with the rest of the leaf block...

I think this is the most striking

leaf block I have ever pieced...

I have used a tailor clapper on my

pieced seams for many years...

I have found so many of these in

thrift stores over the years...

The leaves are piling up...

I decided to make a 3 leaf runner...

Lots of fabric scraps leftover

to make a scrappy border treatment...

This was FUN.....I will make more !

Happy Fall !
