Hollyhock Quilt...

Hollyhocks

Old Fashioned Hollyhocks

have always been a favorite of mine...

They are in full bloom...

If you look closely in the very center

you can see a 5 point star...

You can plant the seeds in the ground

spring, summer or fall

and they will sprout right up and begin to grow.

They winter over really well.

The next summer they will bloom beautifully.

They are drought tolerant and don't need water.

They are prolific and re-seed themselves.

Not only beautiful, but easy to grow.

Garden Tea Party Quilt...

I am starting a new quilt project

on Wednesdays....

I am a sucker for large florals...

This Garden Tea Party Quilt kit

has been in my fabric cupboard since 2009...

I forgot all about it.....eek !

The interior of the quilt is all large cut blocks

and the edge is all fussy cut applique shapes...

These tea pots and flowers are the size

of my hand...

What a treat to work with all of these

beauties every Wednesday all summer long...

The blocks are cut large, which will

show off all of the large motifs...

The blocks are all different sizes

and it took an entire Wednesday to cut

all of them out...

Last Wednesday I started piecing the blocks

into long panels...

3 panels....in progress

This is as far as I got last week...

I am looking forward to starting the

applique work...

Mod TV Quilt Top....

Remember this Mod TV Quilt...

I started it back in March...

I decided it was time to finish the quilt top

Yesterday I added a one inch black border

followed by a 6 inch Atomic border...

The Atomic fabric is from Michael Miller fabrics.

The Atomic fabric adds to that 1960's vibe...

Didn't we all love " That Girl " with her

flipped up hair !

" Bewitched" was probably my most

favorite show on TV...

We all wanted to wiggle our nose

and our bedroom would be magically

all cleaned up !

Every Saturday morning was spent

watching cartoons...

Leave it to Beaver...another classic TV show

" The Jetsons "

We all thought someday we would fly

around in our cars...

" Patty Duke "

We all loved to watch Patty Duke

and her twin cousin...

These TV shows really take me

back to my childhood days

during the 1960's...

This was great fun

reliving these classic TV shows...

sometimes you just gotta make a quilt

just for the FUN of it !

Now I need to paw through the fabric

cupboards and find something to

back this with.

Mod TV....TV Screens

This is my Wednesday project

when I meet up with my local quilt group:

Mod TV Quilt

I decided to add a fifth row of TV blocks...

I printed out images on fabric sheets

of some of the favorite shows

from my child hood...

The TV sets now have FUN images

on the screens...

I used fusible web and invisible applique'

to attach them to the TV blocks...

When I look at them I can hear

the TV show theme songs in my head...

Lots of FUN !

They really add to the whole

Mod TV vibe...

Saturday morning cartoons always

included the Jetsons...

Everybody wanted a talking horse

like Mr ED...

Oh, and to be magical like

I Dream of Jeannie...

I also included some test patterns

on a few of the TV sets...

This is as far as I got on Wednesday.

Next week I will add a few more TV shows

then begin moving the blocks around

so it looks more balanced.

Unfortunately, this just doesn't photograph

as well as it really appears in person.

Our days begin and end in the

calving grounds:

This is the view that greets us each morning

when we cross the river and head over

to feed and check on the cows and calves...

You can see our home place across the river

in the background where the red barn sits...

Each morning is like Christmas...

we look around to find a brand new calf

with its' mama.

There are cattle videos on my Instagram
