There Goes The Neighborhood...Progress

I continue to stitch away on my aunt's

House Quilt...

All of the tree blocks are done...

The quilt top is coming to life...

I decided to try a Confetti Border treatment...

I like the confetti border so I will

continue to make more...

this border treatment adds to the

whimsical nature of this quilt...

I had great FUN setting these house blocks,

created by many hands,

into this completed quilt top...

This is a surprise for my aunt...

she has no idea what I did with her house blocks !

Also in the tote box with all of the

house blocks and fabrics was this

3 yard piece of fabric...

I will incorporate it into a backing

for the quilt...

I ordered black batting...

as soon as it arrives I will begin the

machine quilting on my Sweet 16.

There Goes The Neighborhood...

There Goes The Neighborhood !

I brought home a box full of house quilt blocks

from Idaho this summer...

they belong to my aunt.

These wild fabrics were also in the box...

This note was also in the box...

Each block was created by a different quilter

and a few of them wrote a note to my aunt.

Here is a close up view of a few of the blocks:

The box of fabrics and instruction note

was handed off to each quilter...

After one quilter had completed her block,

she placed her block in the box and

handed it off to the next person...

This quilter did a photo transfer on fabric

of my aunt and placed it

in the window of the house.

With each person using some fabric from the box,

and adding some fabric of their own,

it helped the blocks to be more cohesive...

The directions indicated that black & white fabric

be included in every block...

The quilters were so creative !

Each person adding their own style !

Makes you want to make a HOUSE !

One of the quilters signed her block

and included the date...2005

My aunt requested that I also include

my own house block...here it is.

I decided to make TREE BLOCKS

to alternate between the house blocks...

I pulled these lime green fabrics from my stash.

I made a few tree blocks and put them

up on the design wall...

The black background fabric really

helps to showcase the house blocks...

I am liking the tree blocks

so I will keep adding them to the design...

A few more tree blocks and I will be ready

to stitch this together...

This is what it looks like after 3 days of stitching.

As time allows,  I will get these blocks sewn

into rows and eventually into a quilt top.

It will be the size of a lap quilt.

This has been FUN!

I will post images of the completed

quilt when it is done.

Garden Tea Party Quilt...

Time to get a binding on this quilt...

I place the folgers can on the floor

between my feet and the binding

feeds beautifully up and onto

the quilt as I stitch it in place.

Binding clips hold the binding in place

as I stitch it down...

Almost done stitching the binding...

always a great feeling !

She's all bound and ready to go...

It was raining today, so I couldn't take her

outside for a full length photo shoot...

Machine quilting close up view:

Swirls and flower petal motifs...

This was a FUN one to machine quilt...

Always a great feeling to get a quilt

to completion...

This quilt is on its' way to someone

who has had surgery and now radiation.

I hope it brings her comfort and peace

when she needs it most.

Garden Tea Party...Machine Quilting

I started this quilt top in June...

Garden Tea Party Quilt

I am absolutely in LOVE with these

gorgeous floral fabrics....

They are so feminine and lovely...

I basted the quilt last week

and it is time for machine quilting...

80 x 97 inches

I have been machine quilting with this sit-down

Handi Quilter Sweet Sixteen for 15 years...

large quilts are a breeze with my big girl machine !

Those dark blue clamps hold up the quilt

so there is no drag while I am pushing it around

under the needle...

quilting feathers makes me happy...

feathers, flowers and swirls.....FUN !

Now, let me get back to my quilting

so I can get this beauty finished up...

More to Come !
