Thread Shed Curtains...

These are the curtains in the Thread Shed:

I hung them up in 2000

when the Cowboy built the Thread Shed...

They are quilt tops from the 20's and 30's

that were never made into quilts...

They have dry rot and are falling apart...

They are torn in places and need to be replaced.

Here are a couple of quilt tops

from the 30's that I have had for years:

They are not suitable to be quilted...

I do enjoy looking at them and will

appreciate seeing them every day

instead of storing them out of sight

in the cupboard...

I will cut off the damaged parts and

hem them to fit the window...

The old curtains have been removed...

This is my view when I am at the sewing machine.

The early morning light from the East

comes through this window...

The new curtains are in place

and they look lovely in the morning light...

I have a liner behind them to protect

them from the sunshine...

They brighten up the room

and I can enjoy them when I spend time

in the Thread Shed.

Lupine...

It was a great Spring for the Lupine...

Yes, the red tractor is parked just outside

the Thread Shed door...

The Cowboy brought it home to do some

maintenance on it for hay season.

The Lupine are really putting on a show !

They are growing just outside the door

to the Thread Shed where I do most

of my stitching...

They were planted from seed last year

and they came back this year

so full of blooms !

This is the first time I have had several

different colors, other than purple...

They make me happy each time I pass by

them to go out and do some stitching

in The Thread Shed.

Flower Petal Pillows...

Making more Pillows...

I made three of these pillows last month

I decided to make more...

Three more pillows ready for

gift giving...

I put all the blue and yellow fabrics

away so I won't be tempted to make more...

This is where I do my stitching at home:

The Cowboy built the little yellow

Thread Shed for me in 2000.

He built the little red hen house in 1988...

The lupines in front of the Thread Shed

are really putting on a show this year!

So are the rhodies on the side of

the hen house.

We are enjoying the last days of Spring...

Summer will be here before we know it

and we will be making hay soon.

Yard Work....Cowboy Style

When I need help with yard work

I know just the right guy for the job...

The Cowboy jumps right in and

gets right with it !

Within minutes tree limbs are cut

and ready to load up and haul away...

While the Cowboy is limbing,

I am cleaning out the flower beds...

It always looks worse...

before it looks better !

Making some head way...

The chickens join in cleaning up the flower bed !

The limbs are down,

time to load them on the dump bed...

All loaded up and ready to haul them off...

The limbs are all cut on the 2nd tree...

Another load of limbs to haul off...

The first 2 trees are all trimmed up

and the flower bed is cleaned out...

Trimming the limbs off the 3rd tree...

The Cowboy knows how to get things done!

My little yellow Thread Sheds

sits in the background

patiently waiting for me to come in a sew.

Summer @ The Kessi Ranch 2022...

 The first week of July

and we are finally getting summer weather

here in Western Oregon

Foxgloves growing by the barn...

We are making round hay bales...

Roses and Peonies blooming by the front door...

There are baby tree swallows living in the

2 story bird house the Cowboy built for me.

The chickens scratching through the iris bed.

They eat all of the slugs and bugs...

great for the flowers!

The second hay field is mowed...

I am raking....the Cowboy is baling.

Round Bale

We moved the main cattle herd to new pasture

last evening...

They are in grass up to their eyeballs...

Lots of munching goin on !

First hay field all baled up...

Queen Anne's Lace growing along the fence...

Thread Shed...

In between hay fields,

I have been stitching in here...

I finished up the machine quilting on

this warm up piece I started a few weeks ago...

I had to see if I remembered how to

stitch a feather...

It took 5 bobbins and 5 hours of quilting...

It is a 1 yard piece of hand dyed fabric:

Vicki suggested I make a tote bag...

I think there is enough for two !

We are in the 3rd hay field:

I spent the day mowing...

if you look close you can see I am

down to the middle section of the field...

I am not alone:

A fledgling sparrow is keeping me company

on the fence post...

Bye For Now...

Happy Summer 2022 !
