Vintage Quilt Blocks...

I found these vintage

Grandmothers Flower Garden Blocks

in an antique mall 20 years ago...

 

The fabrics are 

Depression Era 30's and 40's...

I found them in an antique mall

They are all cut and pieced by hand...

There are only ten quilt blocks...

They are traditional with the yellow center,

solid fabric surrounding the center,

followed by a floral outer border...

They are lovely...

It is time to get them out of storage and

put them out where they can be enjoyed...

I cut a square of thin batting and

a square of backing fabric...

I layered all three pieced together

and pinned them to keep them from shifting...

I stitched all the way around the outside edge

then trimmed the seam allowance...

Then I cut and trimmed off the corners...

I slit open the back side

and turned the block right sides out...

I applied fusible web to a piece of leftover backing

cut it into narrow strips and heat set it

over the slit (no pic of that)...

Then I top stitched and quilted around

the hexagons...

Close-up View of quilting stitches...

They look so happy without the raw edges...

They will have a new life as

Candle Mats...

These fabrics were produced nearly 90 years ago

and they are finally out in the world

where they can be enjoyed...

Just in time for candle burning weather.

Project Bag...

Project Bags for Quilters

 

I love this pattern !

I have made 10 of these bags and

plan to make lots more...

This is the back of the bag.

There is foam in between the fabric 

and it is quilted in a grid pattern...

The quilting shows up better on the

green lining fabric...

I have the vinyl cut for the front of the bag...

I have the zipper pieces all ready to stitch...

Just need to stitch the 

front of the bag together...

Here it is bound with the handle attached.

I have made several for myself and

a few more for my friends and family.

This Baby Bull just melts my heart...

He is the grandson to my very favorite cow,

No more sitting in front of my sewing machine...

I am saddled up to the John Deere

mowing more hay fields.

Mini Card Wallets...

 The holiday workshop is in full swing...

I am making Mini Card Wallets...

with SNAPS  !

I pawed through the fabric cupboards and

found lots of FUN dotty fabrics...

I am lining the wallets with

Shape Flex Fusible Stabilizer...

Shape Flex SF101

I love this interfacing...

It is so nice to work with and gives your

projects so much body with no stiffness at all.

These wallets require one piece of fabric

and one piece of stabilizer

and one snap...

I am sewing assembly line style...

The wallets are all prepped and ready

to sew together.

It just takes a few minutes to stitch

one of these cuties together...

I bought a Kam Snap starter kit

The snaps are super simple to install...

These are FUN to stitch and

you can't stop at just one !

They are the perfect size to hold your

license, credit card & cash

when you don't want to carry a purse around.

They require such little fabric,

I found scraps in my bin

and turned them into wallets...

These will be great stocking stuffers...

Zip Cases...

Santa's Workshop is in full swing !

 

I am making zip cases...

Great gift for the guys...

Shave Cream, razors, toothbrush & paste

Perfect opportunity for pulling out

all the great wild life fabrics in the cupboard...

We have a John Deere fan in our family...

this is perfect for him

These zip cases are so roomy.

I lined them with fusible foam

to help them keep their shape...

This was a fat quarter size scrap I had leftover

from a  previous project...

it worked great for this zip case !

Just had to show you both sides of this case...

Side 1   Bear & deer

Side 2  Moose

Found a fat quarter size scrap of cupcakes...

great for a girl's make up bag 

or hair accessories.

I am pawing through the fabric cupboards

and scrap bag to find more fabrics

for more zip cases....I am on a roll !
