Flowers for Auntie...

It is time to get this comfort quilt

under the needle...

This measures 72 inches square

so I am machine quilting it on my

Handi Quilter Sweet Sixteen...

The quilting is complete and I am

squaring up the quilt...

I used a clam shell ruler to

quilt the center...

I kept the design simple so it would

not complete with this large floral fabric.

Swirls and plume quilting design

in the pink border...

Feather quilting in the white border...

I matched the thread colors so they

would not stand out and complete with these

gorgeous, large floral fabrics...

It is quilted and trimmed and ready

for a binding...

I used the leftover fabric from the back side

to make the binding strips...

The binding is finished...

Time to take it outdoors

for a photo shoot:

This is a comfort quilt that I created quickly

from my stash of leftover floral fabrics...

Day One......Piecing

Day Two......Machine Quilting

Day Three......Binding and Label

I am shipping this quilt out today

to comfort someone I love...

When you cannot be there to give

someone a big, warm hug...

make them a quilt to wrap up in

and feel loved.

3 Quilts...In Progress

Now that hay season is over,

I can concentrate on a few quilt projects...

This is the comfort quilt I started in July...

It is on the basting table today.

Warm & White Batting...

Odif 505 Basting Spray...

It is all basted and ready to go under the needle...

This is the Elk Wedding Quilt

I started this summer...

I began quilting it this week...

One more day of quilting and it will be ready

for binding.

This is my latest Wednesday project:

I meet with my local quilt group on Wednesdays.

I like to have a project reserved just for that day...

This is the color story I have chosen

for the quilt...

This is a Christmas gift...

I completed the center medallion star.

Lots of irons in the fire right now,

but that is usually how I roll.

Quilting and Baling Hay...

I am creating a Comfort Quilt...

I pulled a bunch of large floral fabric scraps

that have been in the stash for 20 years or so...

I chose this gladiolus fabric for the center.

They measure about 8 inches tall...

There was enough of this pink zinnia fabric

for a border around the gladiolus...

Before I knew it, there are 3 borders on

and it measures 60 inches square.

I will put one last border on...

Out in the last hay field:

We are finishing things up...

I am raking and the Cowboy is baling...

The Cowboy is baling up the very last

round bale of the season...

That is a great feeling!

Nothing left to do but haul in the big trailers,

load up the bales

and haul them to winter storage.

Fast Flower Quilt...

I was in need of a comfort quilt

for a dear friend...

I spent the weekend in the Thread Shed

and stitched up this floral quilt:

I pawed through the fabric cupboards

and found lots of large floral fabrics

leftover from previous quilts...it's a start !

The center of the quilt is a square

with very large pink iris:

These were only scraps of fabrics so I had

to use what I had.  I had just enough of the

yellow to frame the center.

Then I built around the center like a log cabin

block until the quilt was lap size...

Here is a close up view of the fabrics:

The iris and tulips are the size of my hands...

It was so FUN to work with these

large florals again !

By Day 2... I was machine quilting:

I quilted a quick overall curly design

and completed the machine quilting

in a few hours.

I used a pink variegated thread and it blended

nicely on the dark and light fabrics both...

I had enough of the light pink rose fabric

to make the binding...

I was lucky to find several yards of this

large rose fabric in the cupboard

for the backing...

Sometimes everything just falls into place,

you have everything you need...

I am putting this in the mail today

to comfort a dear friend.
