Foiling on Fabric......Class Samples

Day 2

The borders are sewn on...

The class samples are ready for machine quilting...

I am all warmed up and ready

 to do some free motion...

Gold Rayon thread to outline the tree and spirals...

My very favorite gold thread.....looks metallic,

 but is Rayon Thread

I thumbed through one of the sketch books

and decided to go with this design

 for the blue background area...

aaaah.....just the thread work it needed...yummy!

Blue Rayon Thread.....border quilting

Quilting is done......needs a binding

Fabric Foiling Class Sample 1

 Class Sample 2:

Before.....Quilting

After......Quilting

I kept this piece simple and elegant.

Science and Art.......Together

For everyone who sews for the AAQI, I know you do so because you care deeply about finding a cure for Alzheimer's. Let me assure you that what you do matters. Every single stitch counts. Your art touches people in a most special way. Just look at the faces of the people below holding the quilts you made!

University of Michigan
Research Team
with Ami Simms

It is unusual for researchers and those who fund them to ever meet. AAQI volunteers have had this opportunity three times. It is an extremely rewarding experience.
