Baby Quilt...

Ponderosa Charm Squares

Back in March I pulled out these charm squares

and stitched together a Moda Love Star Quilt

top for our neighbor who is expecting her

first baby...

It's time to get it under the needle...

I am stitching on my HQ Sweet Sixteen

Sit-Down Long Arm today...

Our neighbor and her horses

are all expecting babies very soon...

A horsey quilt for a horsey girl !

I have made several of these Moda Love Quilts

and they are so much fun and a great way

to utilize precut squares of all sizes...

Beautiful horse fabric for the back side.

Time to get the binding and label on

and get this to the new mama.

Horse Quilt...

Remember this horse panel quilt top?

It has been sitting around long enough...

time to get it....under the needle !

It is a fair sized quilt, so I will quilt it

on my Big Girl Machine...

Handi Quilter Sweet Sixteen

This is a Sit-Down Long Arm

and I love it for larger projects...

I used the Handi Quilter Wave Ruler

to quilt the center of the panel...

I used the Hand Quilter Ditch Ruler

for all of the straight line quilting...

To mark the spine of the feather,

I used my very favorite marking tool...

Ultimate Marking Pencil

You just iron it off...

The white line disappears with heat...magic!

Close-Up view of Quilting:

The 20 inch square up ruler

works best for trimming and squaring up...

Ahhh...the rough edges are gone !

Now I need to paw through the fabric cupboards

and find a binding that works...

I will send another image when this is

hanging on the living room wall.

Moda Love Quilt....Machine Quilting

It is time to get this Moda Love quilt

under the needle...

I am machine quilting on my

Handi Quilter Sweet Sixteen...

My Big Girl machine !

This is a sit-down long arm machine...

Above the machine are dark blue clamps.

They hold the quilt up so there is no drag

while I am quilting.

You can see the blue clamps holding up the quilt.

These purple Gypsy Quilter hoops

help grip the fabric...

On the back side are the purple rubber grips...

they really work !

You hang on to the sides and move the

quilt in any direction while quilting.

I have had them for many years.

I feathered all of the triangles

and straight lines in the squares...

Swirls in the narrow inner border...

Scallop templates for the border quilting...

Handi Quilter Scallop Template

They come in all sizes and shapes...

Scallop quilting in the border...

A few hours later.....all done !

The edges are trimmed and squared up

and ready for a hanging sleeve and binding.

We woke up to a world of white today...

Feeding cattle in the snow...

After the cattle are fed,

the Cowboy walks through the herd

to check if any of the mama cows

are close to calving yet.
