Gunnr's Quilt...

In September I started a Quilt for Gunnr...

You can watch Gunnr and I make the quilt by

I put lots of quilting stitches in it so it would

be sturdy and hold up well...

Gunnr absolutely adores his Quilt!

He sleeps under it each night...

He sleeps under it in the back seat of the pick up

on the way to town...

He takes naps with it during the day...

He even wears it around the house...

This is a well loved Quilt!

As a quilter, it is so satisfying to create a quilt

for that special someone who really appreciates it!

Out in the back yard.....early morning:

The fog hasn't lifted yet this morning...

but I can still see the grape arbor glowing!

The grape leaves are really putting on a show...

We are having a gorgeous autumn

here in Western Oregon

Free Motion Darning Feet......Improved

Check out this line up of
Free Motion/Darning Feet:

These sewing machine feet have been altered
to improve visibility during free motion quilting.

My favorite guy snipped out the front section on the
plastic foot with wire cutters.
(He normally fixes fence with his wire cutters, but they worked great for this too!)

There is no longer plastic in the front of the foot to
obscure visibility during free motion quilting.

Singer 301 Darning Foot
Yes, he even cut the front out of this foot.
It worked like a charm.

Check out this visibility!

When my mother in law found out we were altering
free motion feet, she ran right down with hers!

Here she is with Gunnr:

Gunnr just had to see what was going on at the
kitchen table.

Speaking of Gunnr:

He spent the weekend in Nevada
on the 14th floor of the Nugget Casino

He was a polite hotel guest and enjoyed his stay!
He was a bit disappointed to find out he could not
go see Glen Campbell with us.

Thermofax Printing on Shirts...

This note has been hanging around for weeks.

I decided to pay attention to it today...

I am in need of work shirts for when I am using
textile paints.
Something to cover up and keep me clean.

I thought it would be fun to decorate my work shirts...

Thermofax Printing came to mind.

Versatex Screen printing Inks

I prefer Versatex over Speedball.
Versatex are a bit thicker and hang on the scraper better.

This shirt came home from the thrift store with me
last week...

3 layers of thermofax designs printed so far...

This shirt is ready for fun!

I have had this work shirt for awhile,
but thought it could use some printing too.

Pink Coneflowers & Black Birds

After I added orange sunflowers....it's done.

I have worked in this shirt for years...
It is time to cover up all the paint stains.

Birds on a Wire is one of my newest screens.

This shirt is ready for fun!

3 shirts to wear...
Makes me want to put one on and do some more
textile painting!

The End

Speaking of Ends...

This Starling doesn't like Gunnr out playing in the yard.
It must have babies nearby somewhere.
When Gunnr is playing with his ball, the bird swoops down from the tree and pecks him on his fanny.
This has been going on for weeks!
Gunnr, of course, could care less, and doesn't even acknowledge the bird in any way.
He is so in love with his blue ball that nothing else matters...

Gunnr........Mr. February

Meet Mr. February

" Gunnr "
by LuAnn Kessi

We just found out Gunnr is February in the
2012 Quilting  Calendar
Theme: Feeling Pet-ty

Our son, Nicholas, brought Gunnr home 4 years ago on his birthday.
It is extra fun that Gunnr is Mr. February as
Nicholas was born in February.

Gunnr's portrait quilt was colored and painted on white fabric,
then machine quilted.

Gunnr does not seem to be overly impressed with his quilt,
but I am just tickled .
