Baby Nines....Quilted & Bound

The Baby Nines Quilt is....DONE !

I machine quilted daisies all over...

I just kind of made this design up

as I went along....it was great FUN !

I had this lavender binding cut out

a few years ago and never used it...

it works nicely on this baby quilt.

How about that PINK backing...

This is a gift for our tractor mechanic...

He has been coming out to our place for

a few weeks now working on my

red tractor (it blew up last hay season)...

His baby is due any day

and the baby quilt is ready to go !

Baby Nines...

I am in need of a baby quilt...

This very scrappy nine patch pattern

will work nicely with the scrap fabrics

I have in the bin by my cutting table...

I used 2 inch squares to create the 9 patch blocks,

I had leftover 5 inch charm squares,

also found leftover white background fabric

from a previous quilt...

The 5 inch charm squares

for the center of the quilt

are up on the design wall...

I am placing the 9 patch blocks

around the charm squares...

9 patch blocks make everything better...

It's a good thing this is baby size...

I barely have enough fabric....eek !

The blue fabric is just right for the

side triangles...

it has baby goats on it....FUN !

All of these are leftovers from my

1930's reproduction quilt projects

I have done over the last 30 years.

Now to find a backing fabric and

get this basted and machine quilted.

More to Come !

Baby Quilt...

Ponderosa Charm Squares

Back in March I pulled out these charm squares

and stitched together a Moda Love Star Quilt

top for our neighbor who is expecting her

first baby...

It's time to get it under the needle...

I am stitching on my HQ Sweet Sixteen

Sit-Down Long Arm today...

Our neighbor and her horses

are all expecting babies very soon...

A horsey quilt for a horsey girl !

I have made several of these Moda Love Quilts

and they are so much fun and a great way

to utilize precut squares of all sizes...

Beautiful horse fabric for the back side.

Time to get the binding and label on

and get this to the new mama.

Baby Quilt.....Minions

This is how I spent a few hours yesterday:

Minions....Baby Quilt

This is the panel BEFORE quilting:

The quilting brings these panels to life !

505 Spray

My favorite for spray basting quilts

Lots of BIG SWIRLS are FUN !

Brings a SMILE to my face !

Yummy flannel for the backing...

As soon as I get the binding on this,

it will be winging its' way cross country.

While loading hay this morning

I noticed this Blue Heron perched in a tree

in the barn lot:

They are such beautiful birds...

They spend their time fishing along the river.

putting the finishing touches on

the airplane quilt...

It has been through the washer an dryer

and is yummy soft...

I did a bit of straight line ruler work

on the planes...

The background is swirls and bubbles...

This is a gift for a new baby boy...

I think I will name it.....The Red Baron

2 days to piece....2 days to quilt and bind.

Now to sew on the label and get it wrapped up!

Airplane Quilt.......Piecing

I have had this airplane pattern for

20 years or more...

It is time to create a baby quilt...

No rotary cutting directions in this pattern...

Just templates to cut out.

My template making skills are rusty.

It has been awhile since I've

done this sort or piecing.

Here is the first block cut out and

ready for piecing...

There were no directions at all in the pattern.

They did include a piecing diagram.

I pinned it to the flannel board for reference.

I started piecing from the tail of the plane

and worked my way up to the propeller...

By Saturday evening.....4 airplane blocks done.

I was out to the barn early on Sunday

to get the animals fed and the chores done

so I could spend the day in the Thread Shed...

6pm Sunday evening...

The airplane quilt top is complete.

46 inches square.

Tomorrow I will get this basted

and on the Sweet 16 this week.

p.s.  I finished The Kittens Quilt top, but

forgot to take a photo.

It is ready for machine quilting.

I will share images soon.

More to Come!
