Solid Fabrics......Fresh from the Dye Pot

I planned to do some screen printing yesterday...

The patio was still set up for fabric dyeing...

so I went with it!

32 mostly solid hand dyes...

They are a much needed addition to the stash.

Most of my hand dyes are fairly wild.

These solids will calm things down during the design process.

I couldn't resist throwing a few bamboo sox into the dye pot:

Now I am ready to clean up the patio.

Gunnr and I were herding cattle and stopped to smell the daisies...

I am always happy to share my photography.

Dyed Fabrics.....Rinsed, Washed, Dried

Here are the results of the morning dye session...

Soft, muted colors...

I am dyeing solid colors to add to my stash...

I really have very few solids

One bright pink fabric with lots of texture......FUN

It was a good morning.....9 Yards

This afternoon I soaked white fabric in soda ash solution:

They spent the afternoon blowing in the wind.

Tomorrow I will do more deconstructed screen printing.

Freckles, the cow mama with her herd of yearling cattle...

She is 30 years and counting!

Freckles is happiest with the cattle...

This is my favorite calf...

He's a beauty

Fabric Dyeing.....and Relaxing

This is the first day in two weeks our calendar is empty...

Ahhh......sweet, sweet freedom.

I am spending my morning with my hands in the fabric dyes...

I have dyes leftover from a workshop 2 weeks ago.

They have been waiting for me in the frig.

I also have a new to me microwave:

Our cousin dropped by this morning and brought this along.

I plan to run it through its paces and do some microwave dyeing.

The summer sink is set up in the yard,

The microwave, containers and dyes are ready to go...

I was concerned the fabric dyes may have weakened

and exhausted after 14 days in the frig....

The colors are vibrant and what I hoped for.

9 yards of mottled, solid colored, hand dyed fabrics.

I better get these in the washer and dryer!

This was the perfect day to be on the patio...

This is the first Star Lily to bloom this season

I am never alone when I am outside...

The yearling cattle are so interested in everything they see

in our yard...

They peer over the fence at me while I am dying fabrics...

Freckles, the Cow Mama, is in the background.

They are good company.

Painted Canvas......Class Prep

I spent the morning packing up for class tomorrow...

3 Primed Canvas read to go to class...

A plain WHITE canvas can be a bit intimidating...

Kind of like the blank page to a writer...

Spray on a little of the Tulip Spray Paints

and the canvas becomes inviting...

Tomorrow the students will sit down at the tables and turn this

canvas into an art collage.

I will bring the camera to class so you can see what happens!
