Baling Hay...

I loaded up the dogs and headed down to the hay field this afternoon...

Brad is on the tractor baling up the hay field

The tractor straddles the hay row...
The red baler behind it scoops up the hay and rolls it into a big bale

When the bale reaches 6 foot in diameter, the baler kicks it out the back door.

The round bale rolls out onto the hay field...

The back door closes...

Then Brad continues down the row making the next bale...

Gunnr......in the hay field

He loves romping between the hay rows...

Jumping over the hay...

Life.....is good!

Brad is taking a break from baling...

Gunnr is so happy to see him!

Come on Brad.....let's play!

After a short visit with the dogs and I...
Brad is back on the tractor to finish baling the middle field

Let's watch the baler kick out another big bale...

The baler door opens...

The lever kicks out the finished bale...

The bale rolls out onto the field...

Brad's off to finish baling the rest of the field.

The dogs and I load up and head back down the road for home.

I am hoping to get the Thread Shed cleaned up after my fabric painting play day yesterday... wish me luck.

Painting Fabric...

Painting Fabric.....Play Day!

Here are a few pieces that I painted yesterday...

Fabric is approx 21 x 30 inches
Fits nicely on a foam core board during the painting process.

I hung them on the line this morning because I thought it would be easier to photograph them that way...

Yup....as soon as I did....a strong wind came in and blew them around like the sails on a boat!

Sponged Summer Sky

Water
Salted and Folded to dry

Sun Dyeing
I placed a table runner on top of the wet paint, then put it out in the sun to dry.
Came out better than I had hoped for...

Desert Sunset

Autumn Sunset

Sunset over the Ocean
Salt sprinkled over the lower portion

Leftover paint....
Painted in horizontal lines, then folded the fabric accordion style and left to dry.

Mountains or Rocks

After painting, the fabric was scrunched up and put in the sun to dry.
Creates hills and valleys for the paint to accumulate.

Leftover Paint....
I used all of the leftover green paints, then folded it and left it in the sun to dry.

Ground up Walnut Shells
This piece is still drying...
I sprinkled ground up walnut shells on the wet paint, then put it out in the sun to dry.
Hoping the shells will act as a resist?

Bubble Wrap
I placed bubble wrap under the fabric...then painted and salted it.
Hoping the bubble wrap will cause hills and valleys and texturize the piece.

Clean Up Cloth

I just couldn't bare to throw out the leftover paints...
I scrunched up a piece of fabric and poured the last of the paints all over it.
I swiped it here and there with the brushes and sponges.
After it dries I will iron it and post a photo of it.
Clean up Cloths are my favorite!

Gunnr

He is keeping an eye on the last few pieces drying outside...
Just to make certain the birds don't fly over and make a deposit on them!

Making Hay...

Gotta make hay....when the sun shines!

Here in Western Oregon we haven't seen a lot of sunshine

Mowing hay in the Bend Field

Brad is mowing while Nicholas gets off the tractor to have some lunch

Suzy and I stopped by to bring the guys iced tea

Suzy loves to check out all the mole hills in the hay fields

Grass after it has been mowed...
This will lay out in the sun and dry for a day or two.

Middle Field.......Mowed

After the grass dries...
it will be raked into rows and baled.

Changing Drivers...
Nicholas is done with lunch, so gets back on to finish mowing the Bend Field

Suzy is headed for home...

I guess it is time for me to go too.

I painted fabric today.
I will post photos tomorrow...
