18 Rows Done

80 x 60 inches so far...

I started this Apple Core Quilt top a year ago.

It takes 12 hours to complete a row...

Cutting time, marking seam lines, piecing the row, then adding the row to the quilt top.

216 Hours so far...

This is my Take-A-Long Quilt

I only work on this when we are traveling down the road at 55 mph

Piecing while traveling is "Found Time"

I never would have pieced this at home by machine, but traveling in a car with lots of time on my hands......this is perfect!

Today I assembled 10 more rows to sew...
Luckily we are traveling next week.....yeah~!

  1. Wow! That looks great! What a labor of love though - 12 hours a row. Its worthi it though by the looks of it. Completely fabulous! Well Done LuAnn!

  3. Thank you for your kind comments.
I originally planned on this being a lap size quilt, but I can't stand the thought of ending it now.....
I guess it will be bed size someday.

  4. Awesome. I want to be like you when I finely grow up. Not a fan of handwork - at that an understatement.

  5. Dear LuAnn,

I just hand-pieced a small (48”square) apple core quilt, with a photo of my grandmother in the 1940s in the center. I would love to see how you quilted your apple core quilt as inspiration as I decide on designs for mine.

    Thanks so much!
