Horse Panel...

 

I continue to push on with my

pile of fabric panels...

Here is another favorite....Horses

Here are a few soft colors

pulled from the fabric cupboard...

I am auditioning border fabrics...

I decided to try out  the

Delectable Mountain Block...

I am only using half of the block...

Here is a Delectable Mountain border...

Wow....I am pleased !

Just outside the Thread Shed:

There is a RIOT of color !

Black Eyed Suzy

Pink Cone Flowers

Purple Hydrangea

Pink Star Lily

The flower bed in front of the house

is filling in nicely...

The Dahlias and Zinnias are just

beginning to bloom...

It was 107 degrees today...

I better get out and water all of the flowers.

Little Houses Table Runner...DONE !

I started this table runner last week

with my Monday quilt group...

I am finishing it up this Monday

It is all sandwiched together and I spent

the day machine quilting...

Free Motion Fun !

These playful fabrics need some

playful quilting motifs...

Time for the binding...

This was so much FUN...

I have already started the next one !

Double Wedding Ring Quilt...

The quilting is done...

time to trim off the rough edges

and prepare it for a binding.

The edge is trimmed...

don't you just love those beautiful round circles !

I will take it home and begin the binding process.

The bias binding strips are cut...

I am stitching the binding to the

top side of the quilt by machine...

I hand stitched the binding to the back side...

The binding is all done...

The label is sewn on the back...

I came right in from the Thread Shed

and put it on our bed...

Nothing left to do but...

sleep under it !

Unbridled.....Horse Quilt

 

I am still making my way through 

a pile of fabric panels

I have purchased over the years...

This horse panel is called...Unbridled

As soon as I put this panel up on the design wall,

I just knew I wanted to include big stars

I could not find a pattern 

so I made a star block of my own...

The star is paper pieced, 

then I cut it into a circle

and it is turned edge appliqued to the quilt top...

I like the way this is looking...

so I made more stars...

At this point a gold Stonehenge fabric

borders the horse panel and

the star borders are stitched in place...

Time to audition the final border fabrics...

a distressed dark brown on the left...

a distressed white on the right...

The brown border works just right !

I plan to do some FUN machine quilting

on that wide brown border.

Just outside the Thread Shed...

The butterflies are enjoying the 

pink coneflowers...

We have had more butterflies this year

than I can ever remember 

visiting our flower beds...

Little Houses...Table Runner

I met with my local quilt group

The Harlan Valley Quilters

We meet every Monday @ The Quilt Palace

 

I found this layer cake in a thrift store last year

and decided it was time to play with it...

I fused the fabrics and cut them into

house shapes and pressed them 

onto a white background fabric...

Then I did a little free motion 

scribble stitching

always a favorite of mine !

I used black thread to help define

the house shapes...

Then I cut squares from the leftover fabrics

and pieced them into borders...

First two borders stitched and pressed...

All 4 borders.....done !

Next Monday I will sandwich this up

and get to the machine quilting and binding...
