Quilting Sketch Book....Asymmetrical Feathers

A Peek into my Quilting Sketch Book

This is a one sided or asymmetrical feather

The plumes are stitched on one side only

Instead of plumes, I added leaves to this one

I learned these years ago from a tutorial DVD

Look what's blooming in the front yard:

Light Blue Hydrangea

Also in the front yard:

Dark blue Hydrangea

They look purple in the strong sun light

Freckles the cow mama and her yearling calves

are just outside the front yard fence.

Life continues in the Hay Fields:

3 Hay fields have been cut, raked and baled...

3 more hay fields to go...

Gunnr enjoys the summer breeze from the back seat

of the pick up parked in the hay field...

Life is Good!

Quilting SketchBook....Sashings and Narrow Borders

Here are a few designs to fill in

narrow areas like sashings or

narrow borders:

After you chalk out the wavy stem line

on your fabric...

Challenge yourself to find different designs

to add to the stem line...

These get addicting!

Try it

The Lilies in the back yard are in full bloom:

Pink Star Lily

Yellow Spotted Star Lily

They have freckles...

More Lilies....yet to bloom!

The back yard isn't only full of flowers...

It is full of yearling cattle...

They are 15 months old now...

They are good company for us!

Life in the Hay Field:

This hay field is about 5 miles

down the road from home

These are 6 foot round hay bales...

700 pounds each

The bales will be picked up with a tractor

and loaded on a trailer

and hauled for winter storage in our barns.

A few more hay fields to go...

Quilting Sketch Book.....Feather Fillers

This is an all over feather fill

The entire space is filled with feathers

If you look close, you can see that

some of the feathers look like

they are tucked under other feathers.

I divided up the area into 3 sections...

this is called....Divide and Conquer

Look what started blooming today:

Dahlias

Just out the back door:

Over the fence, across the river....

one of the hay fields

Look a little closer...

The goats are up to their bellies in grass!

Not for long, we will be cutting this field soon.

Brad mowing in the 2nd hay field...

He had to stop for a little mower maintenance...

2nd hay field is ready to be raked and baled
