Thread Shed.....Landscaping not Quilting

No Quilting going on today in the Thread Shed...

The closest I will get to the Thread Shed is...

the outside of it.....not the inside

We are weeding and mulching

the flower beds today...

The soaker hoses have been all stretched out...

The Thread Shed is ready for summer!

I use old bed frames along the side

 of the Thread Shed...

they work great for supporting tall flowers.

The little red building on the right

 is the hen house....

The hens keep me company...

I can hear them

when I am working in the Thread Shed

The hens are truly happy today...

they are eating all of the weeds we pulled

They are scratching through the weeds

 and gently clucking.

After all of the landscaping is done around here...

I am hoping to spend time inside the Thread Shed

getting the Zinnia Raffle Quilt completed.

Zinnia Raffle Quilt....Under the Needle

Today I am quilting the Zinnia Quilt...

It was created by:

The Harlan Valley Quilters of Oregon

It will be donated to:

The Women's Cancer Coalition

I turned off the lights so the stitching shows up better...

I just couldn't resist stitching lots of feathers...

Check out the un-quilted part on the right...

Quilting definitely makes the Quilt!

We are enjoying the Iris bed in front of the house:

The brown Iris are always a favorite...

Gerber Daisies:

As always, I am glad to share my photography.

Feel free to use these images

 in your personal art work.

Art.....imitates life

This is the challenge quilt I started last month:

Attic Windows

It reminds me of the view out our front window...

This is the real view out the window:

Of course, this was taken in Spring time.

In the winter it looks more like the quilt above.

If you look close in the tree......

a baby bird is perched

We had a heavy rain a few days ago and the nest fell

from the tree...

Only this one baby bird survived the fall...

We put him back up in the tree...

The parents continue to feed him.

I just might have to add one bird to the

Attic Windows quilt above.

Gone Fishing......Baby Quilt

I am invited to a baby shower.....in 5 days!

It is a boy baby....the family is into the outdoors...

I rummaged through the fabric cupboards and found

lots of fish fabrics I collected for my own boys

years and years ago....

No time to run out for additional fabrics...

I am using what I have.

Yesterday I put the quilt top together in a

log cabin or court house steps design....ish.

Today it went under the needle:

It is all quilted, trimmed and ready for a binding...

Especially for baby quilts, I do a machine binding:

The Wonder Clips held the binding in place nicely...

The clips held the back of the binding securely,

while I top stitched from the top of the quilt.

The back of the binding is stitched by machine

and will hold up through many machine washings!

I pin the clips about in inch apart...

holds the binding in place perfectly.

Back side of quilt is wild life animals.

The label is sewn to the back side...

This was a very fast 2 day quilt......and it is DONE!

Gone Fishing

Gunnr is ready to leave the Thread Shed...

and go inside to sleep by the fire.

Everyone was excited about the baby fish quilt!
