This improv piece has been sitting
around for almost 2 years...
It has waited long enough.
The top consists of Pick Up Stix blocks...
This is a piece I hand dyed and
silk screened.
I sliced it up and created borders...
The quilt top is ready to be basted and
go under the needle...
This is a small quilt so I am doing the
machine quilting on my Bernina Artista 200...
I am using a walking foot for the
simple, wavy, line quilting...
The white thread does not compete with
the pick up stix blocks
and shows up nicely in the borders...
Time to get this trimmed
and stitch on the binding...
I pawed through the cupboard and found this
hand dyed green for the binding...
Love these clips when binding...
I am stitching the binding on by machine
and pin these clips an inch apart
so the binding does not slip...
It has taken me a few years to master
a machine binding:
The binding looks great on the top side...
and the back side...
Here is the big reveal...

I like your walking foot quilting on your Bernina!
ReplyDeleteHi Jocelyn, I don't use the walking foot very much, but when I do it works wonderfully...keeping all of the layers together so nicely while machine quilting.
DeleteMany thanks for your comment,
LuAnn
You make the more interesting fabric - I would find it difficult to cut it up!! Pickup Sticks is a great quilt pattern and your colors are so great! Beautiful finish!!
ReplyDeleteHi Farm Quilters, I guess I figure I am not getting any younger....I better use it now! I can always make more...that is my new mantra!

I love this quilt!
ReplyDeleteThanks Vicki! I am thinking it will make a great baby quilt.

LuAnn
Beautiful quilt. Good quilting design too. The border really set off those blocks. This would take a child waaay past the baby quilt time. They will treasure it I am sure.
ReplyDeleteThanks for showing all the calves. You got some great pictures.
Hi Pam,
DeleteGlad you are enjoying the calf images. The calves form groups and play hide 'n seek and tag....lots of FUN to watch them!
Hugs,
LuAnn
