Table runner.....Christmas Charm Pack

I am on a roll with the table runners...

this is made from a holiday charm pack:

All pieced and under the needle...

I am in the Thread Shed today

stitching on the Bernina Artisa 200...

Lots of big free motion swirls...

rather than let this charm pack sit around

until next holiday season,  I decided

to get it done now...

On point settings are a favorite...

I chose the gray dots for backing...

All done.....10 months early !

I captured this image this morning

while feeding the cattle:

Felix the Elk Calf is 9 months old

and loves to hang out with the old cow herd.

Update on Felix:

Felix stayed with the cow herd for 3 months. He was content and felt safe and enjoyed being fed hay each morning. One morning we showed up to feed and Felix was gone. From the elk tracks in the field, we could see that an elk herd moved through and he joined up with them. It was a great experience for us to see him up close each day, but we are happy that he is where he belongs.

    1. Howdy Queen of Pearls,
It is always FUN to machine quilt a smaller more manageable project. Yes, Felix felt more secure and safer with the cow herd. He lived with them for 3 months. He just left, we think he hooked up with an elk herd passing through....he is now doing the wild thing like he should. We miss seeing him each morning, but happy that he is now with his own kind.

      LuAnn

  3. Great idea on the charm pack. It turned out really nice with the quilting and with that backing it can be used right away! I get a kick out of Felix. Do the cows know that he isn't a cow?

    1. Hi Pamela,
Yes, charm packs are instant FUN! Cut out and ready to stitch! We really enjoyed our mornings with Felix. He felt safer with the cows, but knew he belonged with an elk herd. He left our pasture last week, probably hooked up with a passing herd of elk. We miss him, but are also glad for him. It was an experience we won't soon forget.

      Hugs,
      LuAnn

  4. Felix seems content to be a cow!! Your girls have accepted him as one of them...just wonder what will happen when the fall rut comes around!

    1. Howdy Farm Quilters,

Yes, the cows didn't seem bothered by Felix at all. They allowed him to eat hay right along side of them. An elk calf doesn't mature until 2 years of age, then he will be interested in chasing the female elk around.

      Hugs,
      LuAnn
