First Calf Born....2019

Here she is....one week early !

Little Sister.....Calf 1

Our first calf born this year !

Little Sister was born

out in the field in the snow.

The Cow Boss went out and found her and Mama

and herded them both back to the barn.

We did the morning chores in the snow today:

Mother cows in the snow...

This is the view as we drove over to the

cow barns this morning...

We are bedding the barns today...

The Cowboy is on his way into the barn

to get the straw bales for bedding...

This is the view of our place

across the river from the cow barns:

  4. Oh, the reproachful look of that one cow looking back over her shoulder at you in your warm, dry truck!! Congratulations on the first baby being a girl!! Are you keeping a tally of girls vs. boys? I'm off to watch your videos!!

    1. Yes, we keep track of all of the calves, their ear tag number, their gender, birthdate, mother, etc. Believe it or not, the male/female ratio is pretty much 50/50......good old mother nature knows what she is doing. We are always on the look out for good replacement heifers, so are happy the first calf is a girl. She is the sister to our bottle calf, Vern....they have the same mama, so I called her Little Sister.
