Christmas Quilts...

I spent this week finishing up the

Christmas Quilts

I began in January of this year...

The machine quilting is complete

on the Christmas Tree Quilt...

Time to trim off the rough edges...

The binding is ready to go...

I do most of my bindings by machine...

Large scale quilting...I love it !

Back side of binding...

Just need to get the label sewn on...

Ta-Done !

The Vintage Christmas quilt

is machine quilted...

Love those swirls and snowflakes...

Trimming off the rough edges...

The binding is pieced, pressed and ready

to stitch in place...

The red binding works nicely...

The label is sewn to the back and

it is ready to go !

So happy to have these done and ready

for two very special people.

I will give them at Thanksgiving

and they can sleep under them the whole

month of December.....FUN !

Summer Cattle...

Oh, the lazy days of summer...

Elsa, the frozen calf is on the left...

she is 18 months old now.

This is Althea Pink....a real beauty

Eloise, the white roan, is a yearling heifer

and will have her first calf next Spring...

This is the heifer field, across the river from

our home place, in the background.

Butter Cup, oh so cute !

She is also a heifer and expecting her

first calf in the Spring...

All the cattle are fat and slick in the summer...

In the summer, the living is easy...

This is our newest Golden Girl...

Her name is Brookie.

She is 5 months old.

Cattle in the summer...

Medallion Star Quilt....Progress

This has been my Wednesday project

for the last 5 weeks...

I meet with my local quilt group on Wednesdays.

We laugh and have a great time together

and sometimes I get some stitching done too !

By the second Wednesday,

I was making these strip units...

It took several Wednesdays to complete

all 20 of these units...

Today I began putting the top together

on the design wall:

The center medallion star is 20 inches square...

It is FUN watching it grow...

I do love an  "on point" setting...

Next up.....Star Blocks

This will be a queen size quilt and

requires 40 stars.....yowza !

9  1/2 inch stars...

5:00  This is as far as I went today...

More to come next Wednesday.

Baby Chicks...

There are new baby chicks

running around in the yard...

Mama Hen spent the month of July

sitting on eggs...

August 1st...

three baby chicks hatched out !

Today is their first day venturing out

of the hen house and into our yard

to peck at the grass and bugs...

Mama Hen keeps a close eye out

and keeps them protected at all times...

We are having FUN watching them

scratch around and imitate

everything Mama Hen does.
