Iris and New Calf...

The Iris bed is really putting on a show...

100 Iris here in the front flower bed.

The aroma is lovely.

It is hard to walk by them

without grabbing the camera!

The Cowboy built this bird house years ago...

Each Spring Tree Swallows come to nest...

The male Tree Swallow waits patiently outside

while the female sits on the eggs inside...

It won't be long until we hear

baby birds peeping!

Yes, we are still calving...

This is our newest Baby.....Ben

  3. You know I love irises. I'm surprised yours bloom so late. Mine have been done for over a month. Anyway, they are beautiful. I just wish they lasted longer.

    1. I put the iris bed in about 20 years ago, they always bloom around the first of June, sometimes a week earlier. We have cool soil and it takes longer for some of the flowers to get going.....June seems to be the time when the soil warms up enough to get things blooming!

  4. When I was a child our farm had lovely irises that had been planted in the early twentieth century. They had a lovely, slightly grapey fragrance. I've never found any others like them. They're now a memory that no one else can understand.

    1. Ben is still quite tiny, but doing well. We will leave him with his Mama until January. The rest of the calves will be weaned in November.
