Screen Printing Frames......Water Seal

We made more screen printing frames last week.

I have been waiting for a sunny day
to paint them with water sealant

Here comes the SUN:

We tied them up on a clothesline...

I like to work Factory Assembly Line style...

Why so many screens?

Because there are Oh so many ways to
Screen Print

I want to try them all...

I planted a few seeds 2 weeks ago...

State Fair Zinnias
Hands Down the BEST flower you can grow !

Hollyhocks

The Thread Shed is not complete without
Hollyhocks
growing along side of it in the summer

The seedlings have peeked out of the soil...

They will be ready for planing by June 1st

On a sad note...

This is the ball Gunnr was playing with at the ocean yesterday

He was playing with it in the yard today...

We heard a BANG !

Don't worry it was quick and painless.

A day at the Coast

The Oregon Coast

The Oregon Coast was the place to be this week!

We are fortunate...
Just a one hour drive to reach the ocean.

The sun was shining and just a breeze off the ocean waves.

The sound of the waves and the smell of the ocean...
so relaxing.

Sometimes you need to stop the world...
and get off for a few hours.

The gorgeous colors,
the crashing waves,
the sun on my face....

It energizes you!

A change of scenery can do you good !

It's just what we needed.

This fellow definitely inspires me...

Please feel free to use him in your personal art work.
He is downloaded at a high resolution.

In this one minute video you can view the exhibit:

Last year I was quilting on Sacred Ground as I worked on one of the 7 foot purple panels in the video above.

In the video there is a woman in a bright green shirt holding one of these purple quilts.......it is Sacred Ground.

It is my honor and privilege to be a part of From Heart Break to Hope.

Neocolor II Crayons & Inktense Pencils......Combined

I have been wondering how compatible
Neocolor II Crayons
and
Inktense Pencils
would be in the same portrait...

I am working with this portrait today.

I altered the image in Photoshop Elements 4.
Then printed it out on fabric backed with freezer paper.
My Epson Work Force Wide Format Printer utilizes
Durabrite Pigment based inks
which are water resistant.

The face and hands are Neocolor II Crayons
The hair and lips are Inktense Pencils
The shirt and background are Neocolor II Crayons

Both products worked together beautifully.
After this image dried, I went back over the hair, which was done with Inktense Pencils, and added Neocolor II Crayons on top.
The products combined nicely.

I plan to use both products together in the future.

As time allows, I will quilt this and post the images.

Neocolor II Portrait........Double Take

It is 3:30 and I have time to get started on one more
Portrait Quilt...

We were herding cattle last year.
Moving cow and calf pairs to new pasture.

I came around the corner of the barn and these two turned their heads in unison to look at me.
I was so glad I had my camera in my hands.

At this point the calf has been quilted.
I also quilted the gray, dormant blackberry vines.

Mama Cow is also quilted.
She hates the camera, so I was overjoyed she stood still long enough for the shutter to go off.

I quilted leaves in the green background to give it a bit of texture.

My favorite guy came into the Thread Shed
while I was finishing up this portrait...

He looked at this image and said...

" Double Take "
13 x 19 inches
Neocolor II Portrait Quilt

These are the most recent portraits I have completed.
I will bring them with me to:
