Wapiti....Wedding Quilt

I began stitching this quilt 4 months ago...

It started with an Elk fabric panel...

I added a light inner border to

brighten up this dark panel...

added a second green border...

then I began assembling 9 patch blocks

and decided to set them on point

to add some movement to the quilt...

in July added the two final borders...

blue tree fabric and yellow tree fabric.

Last week I got it....under the needle

of my Handi Quilter Sweet Sixteen Long Arm...

I took it for Show 'n Tell

to my local quilt group this week:

They helped me with a quick photo shoot...

the very sunny day bleached out the colors

a bit but you can see it in its' entirety...

This was created as a wedding quilt

for our friends who live along

The Big Elk River...

in high esteem and consider him

a relative—a relative who brings

Flowers for Auntie...

It is time to get this comfort quilt

under the needle...

This measures 72 inches square

so I am machine quilting it on my

Handi Quilter Sweet Sixteen...

The quilting is complete and I am

squaring up the quilt...

I used a clam shell ruler to

quilt the center...

I kept the design simple so it would

not complete with this large floral fabric.

Swirls and plume quilting design

in the pink border...

Feather quilting in the white border...

I matched the thread colors so they

would not stand out and complete with these

gorgeous, large floral fabrics...

It is quilted and trimmed and ready

for a binding...

I used the leftover fabric from the back side

to make the binding strips...

The binding is finished...

Time to take it outdoors

for a photo shoot:

This is a comfort quilt that I created quickly

from my stash of leftover floral fabrics...

Day One......Piecing

Day Two......Machine Quilting

Day Three......Binding and Label

I am shipping this quilt out today

to comfort someone I love...

When you cannot be there to give

someone a big, warm hug...

make them a quilt to wrap up in

and feel loved.

Summer Color...

Now that hay season is over,

I am trying to spend some time

in the flower beds...

This is the Thread Shed where I do most

of my quilting.

It has flowers growing on all 4 sides...

The Cowboy installed an A/C in here

and I can sew when it is over 100 degrees

and be nice and cool...

Hydrangeas blooming

in front of the Thread Shed...

They are lime green at first,

then they turn purple, then blue...

There is a Passion Flower vine

growing up the side of the Thread Shed...

Pink Coneflowers...

The deer don't like to eat these.....yay!

We have several bird houses around the yard...

we have been watching the baby birds

leave the nest and learn to fly.

This is the flower bed just outside the

front door of our house...

The Cowboy built that bird house.

Tree Swallows nest in there every Spring.

Black Eyed Suzy

Red Roses

Nasturtium

State Fair Zinnia

Pink Coneflower

Zinnia

Out back behind the house...

Peaches are beginning to color up

on the new, little peach trees...

Dahlias

Star Lilies

Petunias growing on the back patio...

Poppy  seed pods...

They are quite large...

I will harvest the seeds this fall and

replant them for next year.

I am trying to take time to enjoy the flowers

while I am weeding, fertilizing,

mulching and watering.

3 Quilts...In Progress

Now that hay season is over,

I can concentrate on a few quilt projects...

This is the comfort quilt I started in July...

It is on the basting table today.

Warm & White Batting...

Odif 505 Basting Spray...

It is all basted and ready to go under the needle...

This is the Elk Wedding Quilt

I started this summer...

I began quilting it this week...

One more day of quilting and it will be ready

for binding.

This is my latest Wednesday project:

I meet with my local quilt group on Wednesdays.

I like to have a project reserved just for that day...

This is the color story I have chosen

for the quilt...

This is a Christmas gift...

I completed the center medallion star.

Lots of irons in the fire right now,

but that is usually how I roll.
