Moda Love Quilt....Machine Quilting

It is time to get this Moda Love quilt

under the needle...

I am machine quilting on my

Handi Quilter Sweet Sixteen...

My Big Girl machine !

This is a sit-down long arm machine...

Above the machine are dark blue clamps.

They hold the quilt up so there is no drag

while I am quilting.

You can see the blue clamps holding up the quilt.

These purple Gypsy Quilter hoops

help grip the fabric...

On the back side are the purple rubber grips...

they really work !

You hang on to the sides and move the

quilt in any direction while quilting.

I have had them for many years.

I feathered all of the triangles

and straight lines in the squares...

Swirls in the narrow inner border...

Scallop templates for the border quilting...

Handi Quilter Scallop Template

They come in all sizes and shapes...

Scallop quilting in the border...

A few hours later.....all done !

The edges are trimmed and squared up

and ready for a hanging sleeve and binding.

We woke up to a world of white today...

Feeding cattle in the snow...

After the cattle are fed,

the Cowboy walks through the herd

to check if any of the mama cows

are close to calving yet.

Christmas Tree Quilt Top...

I have a request for a Christmas Quilt...

I found this image online...

I gathered up the fabrics...

It took 2 full days to get all of the cutting done...

When I began the piecing,

I numbered each row...

I also made a notation as to which way

the seam allowance was pressed on each row...

this will nest the seams together.

The first 4 rows are up on the design wall...

6 rows....the tree is coming to life...

8 rows...

10 rows...

12 rows...

15 rows...

The tree trunk and packages show up !

17 rows...

The quilt top is complete.

Need to find something to back this with.

Just outside the door of the Thread Shed

the Camellia Bush is blooming...

Spring is not far away...

We are expecting baby calves next week !

Migrating Geese....Quilting Continues

I spent the last two days finishing up

the machine quilting on the

Migrating Geese Table Runners...

Piecing these table runners is FUN...

Quilting them is even better !

feathery plumes is always a favorite...

Leaves and curly vines work great

on this runner with the green border...

Back side of green runner...

Large swirls in the center of the runner...

Straight piano key lines in the border...

Nothing left to do but trim

and bind these.

This is how I start my day...

Feeding Cattle

I drive the feed wagon and this

is the view from the side view mirror...

Lots of hungry mama cows...

calving season begins in March.

This is our sweet Golden Girl...

She was born here on our place 8 years ago.

Just across the river from

where we feed the cows...

our home place...

you can see the red barn in the distance.

To the left of the barn is

my yellow Thread Shed...

That is where I have been stitching

all of those table runners.

Migrating Geese...Quilting

I spent the day cutting batting and backing

fabrics and making quilt sandwiches...

Then I spray basted all of the sandwiches

 with my favorite 505 Spray...

The table runners are ready to go...

under the needle !

For small projects like these,

I use my Bernina Artista 200...

My favorite free motion foot

looks like a cookie with a bite out of it...

this foot allows me unobstructed visibility

when I am machine quilting.

This is the BEFORE image....not quilted yet.

This is the AFTER quilting image...

Don't you love all that Quilty goodness !

This is the back side of the table runner...

Oh, how I love me some free motion quilting !

I am quilting different motifs

on each table runner...

Back Side...

Feels so good to trim off the rough edge....

Edges are ready to bind...

Three Table Runners quilted and

ready for binding...

Here comes more show 'n tell:

This is the fifth table runner...

I had to quit and go make dinner.

This is patiently waiting for me tomorrow.

I might just have to keep a yellow runner

for our kitchen table.

More to come !
