Tote Bags...

Woven feed sacks make great Tote Bags...

The livestock feed sacks have been piling up around here

After running them through the sewing machine,

they are now tote bags

Smaller sacks made great little totes too...

I cut off 2 inch strips from the top and bottom

of the sack to make the tote bag handles.

Bird Seed made a great tote too!

Instead of a box and wrapping paper,

I will put gifts in these to give them away.

Feed sack tote bags.......when will it end???

Challenge Quilt.....2013

The challenge theme for 2013...

" Inspiration from the Flower Beds "

Our flower beds are sheltered by trees.

The trees are printed on fabric.

The view through the window from inside our house

reminds me of this:

So, I cut up the tree fabric to represent window panes.

All the fabric has been cut into 6 inch squares.

Time to get it up on the design wall and play...

This placement appeals to me so far...

The fabrics on the right will make window sills.

The cows have been calving for a month now...

Here is one of the first March calves.

He is a sturdy fellow.

The nanny goats have been busy too:

Baby goats are hard to resist.

I will post more challenge quilt photos as I progress.

Chicken Quilt......Basted

I started this landscape quilt 10 years ago...

It got this far after 2 days.....then stopped.

It was put away and forgotten.

I pulled it out of the cupboard this week and was

inspired to complete it...

I placed black netting over the rock wall

to tone down the white....much better.

I added a gold border.

This wood fabric might make a good outer border...

like a picture frame?

Wooden Fabric.....audition

If the corners were mitered....

it would look like a frame?

It worked!

I touched up the miters with black fabric paint to enhance them.

Each one of the red roses was painted by hand,

cut out and stitched down to the leaf fabric......

it was worth it!

The quilt is basted and ready to go under the needle.

I am not working alone today...

The yearling cattle are just outside by the barn...

They are always interested

in watching me make quilts!

taken by the Trail Camera.

Here is what the trail camera caught at night:

Table Skirt and Quilted Stool.....

A productive day in the Thread Shed...

I store my travel machines under

my main work table

Great storage area but...

I want to cover it up.

I made a skirt to cover the front of the table...

Looks much better!

I recovered this old stool...

Wish I had a before photo...

The Thread Shed looks happier today!

The hen house has 6 nesting boxes...

All of the hens favor the second nesting box...

This hen just has to wait her turn!

Have a great day!
