Green Quilt......Progress Report

Day 4

I am still piecing green and white quilt blocks...

40 Large Blocks and 75 Small Blocks pieced so far:

Notice the Pizza Box.....is almost empty!

These are free cut Wonky Style blocks:

There is lots of trimming after each strip is added to the block.

I do not work alone today:

Gunnr is hard at work under the sewing machine.....asleep.

I will post more images when I begin putting the blocks
on the design wall.

Class Prep......Raw Edge Flower Class

Next Monday, May 7th
I will be leading a class in Raw Edge Applique
for the Harlan Valley Quilters, Harlan, Oregon

I spent a few hours this past week
getting my class prep work done.

This is the pattern we are using:
French Roses

150 flower shapes and 200 leaves
cut out and ready for class.

Lime Greens, Turquois & Pinks

We will use a glue stick to temporarily hold the
flower shapes onto the background block.

Then we will use invisible thread to applique the flowers:

I prefer the polyester invisible threads over the nylon,
as they are not prone to melting when ironed or yellowing with age.

I have made this quilt a few times:

This is a lap quilt created from this pattern a few years ago.

Luckily...

I had a few extra blocks that didn't go into the quilt...

It saved me time.....I didn't have to create class sample blocks.

Time to load everything into the handy dandy pizza box...

Never leave home without your pizza box!

The Harlan Valley Quilters plan to donate this quilt to the
Women's Cancer Coalition
as a raffle quilt to raise funds for women's cancer programs.

I will post images of our class on Monday...

Green Quilt........Day 3

Day 3

28 more blocks pieced...

I pieced a few smaller blocks.

I am placing the darkest blocks around the outer edges
to create somewhat of a border treatment.

The lighter blocks in the center area.

Lots more blocks yet to piece...

Green Quilt......24 More Blocks

Day 2

24 More Blocks Pieced Today.

It is FUN to see them up on the design wall...
although they won't be set exactly in this way.

30 Blocks completed so far.

We are expecting 80 degree weather here in
Western Oregon tomorrow,
so I will spend the day outdoors working in the
flower beds, mowing the lawn, planting bulbs and doing
most anything to keep me outside in the sunshine!

I will post again on Monday when I get back
to the sewing machine.

Green Quilt.....Day 1

Day 1

I am making a new quilt for my favorite guy!

He likes GREEN

So, for the time being...
let's call this the GREEN Quilt

All of the fabrics came out of the pizza box
to be ironed and cut into blocks...

The fabrics are layered 6 deep:

The block is cut......free style
This was a lot of FUN!

The fabrics are shuffled around:

The first block is by the sewing machine
ready to begin piecing.

The first block is done.
I like the wonky style.

The second block is pieced...

The third block is in the pizza box...
ready to be pieced.

It took no time at all to finish the
first 6 blocks:

This is just the look I was hoping for!

Here are 6 more blocks layered:

This free style cutting is too much FUN!

The layers have been shuffled:

6 more blocks ready to be pieced.

The pizza box works great to keep
all of the block pieces together:

I will post again when I get more blocks done
and up on the design wall.

Wonky Blocks.....Give 'em a Try!
