Messy Painted Canvas...


The Permission 2 Play members

gathered together to play with PAINT...



We are using craft grade paint and foam rollers...




We are creating a Messy Painted Canvas:














Class is about to begin...

Grab a name badge and a seat!






The classroom is set up for......FUN!






The tables are covered with primed canvas...





P2P Instructor Debbie 

sets up the trays with foam rollers...




The canvas will be painted in 4 layers:


Layer 1......Light Paint Colors





The students apply paint with foam rollers...





First Layer......Complete!

Layer 2:

Medium color paints,

stamping with found objects






Messy Painting brings out the best in all of us!





Layer 3......Dark Color Paints





To add focal points to the canvas,


we are stamping with foam stamps...





and Rubber Stamps






We are working with 4 large pieces of canvas.

Everyone works on all of the canvas.



Layer 4.....Black and White Paints:


For the 4th and final layer,  

we are only working with Black and White

paints and markers





The Black and White makes it POP!

Here we are 3 hours later...


Everyone leaves with a piece of

Messy Painted Canvas


This canvas can be sewn up into

tote bags, ipad covers, zipper bags, 

journal covers, etc.

No experience is necessary to participate.
All supplies are provided for the students.
Classes are held the 4th Thursday of each month at JanniLou Creations Quilt Shop, Philomath, OR

  1. It's a few years later that I have been recommended to see your blog! Thanks for sharing this project. I love doing collaborative painting projects with adults and kids. This is such a great idea - using it for fabrics, something I hadn't considered before now. I'm planning to add this type of project to my menu. I love that the class has subsidised access for cancer patients - a very kind initiative. I'll be directing my subsidies to special needs kids and adults as that's my crowd (My son has special needs).
