Woven Tablerunner...

This is a woven tablerunner I put together

with some of my hand dyes...

The woven strips are a hand dyed gradient...

the gradient goes from purple to pink...

I have had this lime green batik

in my stash forever...

It compliments the hand dyed strips.

I think I will keep this one for our table

here at home...

This is the pattern

Wonder Clip Bowls...

I started making Wonder Clip Bowls

and I couldn't stop...

I used the Lazy Girl pattern...

Joan Hawley's patterns are excellent.

She does a great job explaining the

one way zip technique.

I've made 2 dozen of these zip bags

and they are still FUN to stitch up!

Each one easily holds 50 Wonder Clips!

They open wide so it is easy

to reach in and grab a clip when you need it.

Santa will deliver these to all of the

good little Quilters I know!

Do you remember this little girl?

All of our calves are black...

except this one.

We call her......Golden Girl

Look at her now.....all grown Up!

We were out in the pasture last night and

I snapped this photo of our gorgeous girl.

She is bred and will have her first baby

next year.

Airplane Quilt.......Piecing

I have had this airplane pattern for

20 years or more...

It is time to create a baby quilt...

No rotary cutting directions in this pattern...

Just templates to cut out.

My template making skills are rusty.

It has been awhile since I've

done this sort or piecing.

Here is the first block cut out and

ready for piecing...

There were no directions at all in the pattern.

They did include a piecing diagram.

I pinned it to the flannel board for reference.

I started piecing from the tail of the plane

and worked my way up to the propeller...

By Saturday evening.....4 airplane blocks done.

I was out to the barn early on Sunday

to get the animals fed and the chores done

so I could spend the day in the Thread Shed...

6pm Sunday evening...

The airplane quilt top is complete.

46 inches square.

Tomorrow I will get this basted

and on the Sweet 16 this week.

p.s.  I finished The Kittens Quilt top, but

forgot to take a photo.

It is ready for machine quilting.

I will share images soon.

More to Come!

Bottle Calves....New Pasture

The bottle calves are growing...

Number 25 is the twin orphan calf - 8 months

The dairy calf on the left is 6 months

They need more room to graze...

They enjoy sniffing and licking the camera!

Today we built an electric fence and

created a new enclosure for them...

they LOVE it!

When we turned them out into their new pasture, they ran, jumped and chased each other.

You can watch them in the videos below:

A couple hours of fence building

made such a delightful impact on their lives.

They have room to run and stretch their legs,

and so much more grass to munch!

They will be weaned off the bottle this month

and I am having a bit of separation anxiety...

The Kittens Quilt.....Piecing the Background

30 Kitten Blocks are Pieced...

As I cut, sew and press these bright fabrics,

they sure make me happy!

30 Kittens up on the design wall...

I begin piecing the gray background:

2 Rows completed...

If things stay quiet here on the farm,

I plan to spend the day in the Thread Shed

piecing the background sashing.

We are enjoying the last of our

Red Maple Leaves here in the yard...

It has been a glorious autumn for leaves

here in Western Oregon.

More To Come!
