Sunset @ Island Park...

I have been stitching away on this quilt for the last few weeks in between trips back and forth to the cow barns to check on the cows and calves...

The Cowboy surprised me with this

Bear Quilt kit

55 x 55 inches

I rarely work from a kit....I enjoyed the convenience of having everything I needed in
one little package.

Last weekend I put it under the needle of the Sweet 16 and finished the machine quilting.  I matched my thread colors so I would not distract from the simplicity of the design.  It is heavily quilted, but you can't see it the photo.

Last evening I stitched the

binding and hanging sleeve...

As soon as I cut the thread,

the Cowboy hung it on the wall

in the living room.

It is a memory quilt of the wonderful summer we spent in Island Park, Idaho.  Each evening we would leave our campsite to chase the sunset and capture it with the camera lens.

Other than the 80 2 inch bias squares for the bear paw blocks, this was a simple quilt that I enjoyed putting together and a nice distraction from all the mud and rain the last few weeks.

Quilt Retreat Week...

It is Friday and I have been

Quilt Retreating all week!

This was my home base for the week...

Ralph the Quilting Kitty is here!

I spent most of my time getting back in the

groove with free motion quilting...

On Wednesday we had a Tea Party...

lots of FUN!

I tried out a few new quilting designs...

I took a break from quilting and stitched

this photo pillow:

Photo Pillow  20 x 20 inches

A birthday gift for someone very special!

Ralph would like to show off his new Quilt:

Since he spent most of his time sleeping on my

free motion sandwich...

It is now 20% cotton and 80% cat hair...

Once I get a binding on it,

this is Ralph's comfort quilt...

If you look close, Ralph's name is stitched

on the Quilt.

A week of stitching.....just what I needed!

Wholecloth Pillow...

I am at Quilt Retreat all week...

A few weeks ago I did some practice quilting

on this Damask napkin

in preparation for a wholecloth quilt

I am planning.

Today @ retreat I turned it into a pillow

16 x 16 inches

My practice sandwiches usually get thrown into

a pile or stuffed in the cupboard...

This was just too pretty to get tossed aside...

I am ready to move on and design

a wholecloth quilt.

I had some time in the afternoon to

play around with this vine design:

You can view my Wild Vine Tutorial HERE

The Wild Vine stitched out nicely

on this practice sandwich.

Ralph, The Quilting Kitty,

is having a great time @ Quilt Retreat

all this week!

Farm Report:

37 calves on the ground,

another set of twins, the mother loves both of them!

Moving Cattle...

We are moving Cattle this evening...

The livestock trailer is backed up to the silo...

The mama cow and her twins are loaded up.

We drove them across the river and a mile

down the road to our house...

The twin calves are unloaded first...

The yearling cattle are lined up around the

corral to check out the new arrivals...

Mama Cow is unloaded into the corral...

It will be easier for the Cow Boss and I

to let the twin calves nurse twice a day

here @ home in our own barn.

We are hoping in a few weeks Mama cow will

want BOTH of her twin calves.

The chickens had to come and see what

the commotion was all about...

We have had nearly 60 inches of rainfall

since the first of the year....

We are enjoying a sunny evening...

I took the camera along to move the cattle...

Tree Roots...

We pass by these tree roots every day

on our way to the Cow Barns...

Tree Roots

I notice them every time we pass by...

The roots are very smooth

from the cattle and the goats rubbing on them...

They are magnificent!

Just to give you some perspective as to the

size of these tree roots...

Here is a mama cow walking by the tree roots.

Here I am standing in the tree roots...

We continue to spend a lot of time tending

to the cattle

There are 31 calves on the ground so far...

we are half way through calving season.

I am attending a full week Quilting Retreat

@ the Quilt Palace this week....I am ready!
