We are two weeks into calving season
here at the Kessi Ranch
The pastures are starting to fill up
with baby calves...
Once the calves are a week old,
they start to gang up together and
play tag....chasing one another
all over the pastures !
This calf had its nose up in the air
trying to smell me when I was
taking the picture...
This mama is the babysitter...
She watches over a group of calves
while their mothers go out and graze for awhile.
We will be calving for 8 more weeks
so there is lots more to come.

Amazing the difference in size between #15 and #16. So fun to see the calves every year. I hope all the deliveries go smoothly and they all just have a blast romping around and growing up together. I love this time of year, just because of the calves.
ReplyDeleteCalves are born in all different sizes...the twins are really tiny....some of the mamas throw huge bull calves and others throw small heifer calves.....you never know what you're gonna get. They also grow at different rates, depending how much milk their mama has. I enjoy them most when I can quit worrying about them during calving season and see them out on summer pasture when they are slick and shiny and looking good.
