The Art Sisters are in the Thread Shed today
Thread Shed......September 2015
We are creating Fantasy Fish...
the light boxes are set up...
Fabrics for Fishes...
All we need are the Art Sisters to arrive...
The light tables are fired up...
I was able to cut the fusible web
into 8.5 x 11 inches sheets
to run through the printer
so no tracing the pattern.....much faster!
Fusible web ironed to back side of fishy fabrics....
Cut out pattern shape from fabric
I had big plans to take photos throughout the day...
before I knew it the Art Sisters were almost done.....eek!
Here is how the day ended:
Kathi's fish nearly done...
Nancy's fish.....in progress
Virginia's Fish.......in progress
This fish gets an.....eye
The fish gets his lips...
Nancy's fish has his gills....
Quilting the backgrounds for the fish....
Virginia's fish is pressed onto his background...
Nancy is quilting her background...
Kathi is chopping up fused fabric for a border treatment...
Ta- Da........the Art Sisters have done it again:
Nancy
Nancy plans to take hers home
and do a bit more tweaking on it.
Virginia
Kathi
These class samples have been created
for an upcoming P2P class.
We only have 3 hours with our students, so we
have designed this project to fit those time limits.
If you have more time available...
you can really go wild with this technique!
Gunnr loves when the Art Sisters come to the Thread Shed:
I think they really wore him out today!

LuAnn, love the Fantasy Fish...Where did you get the pattern? I would love to try one!
ReplyDeleteMy inspiration for this project came from a Susan Carlson book: Free Style Quilts
ReplyDeletehttp://www.amazon.com/Free-Style-Quilts-No-Rules-Approach/dp/1571201025/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1442677548&sr=8-1&keywords=susan+carlson+books
I adapted my own methods and created the fish a bit differently than her book since the project needs to be completed in a 3 hour class.
It is great FUN!
