The flowering cherry trees

are also in full bloom

each year with the tulips

Flowering Cherry Tree...

Improv....Technique 5...continued

I am finishing up the Pick Up Stix blocks

I had enough of the marbled background

fabric to cut out 30 blocks...

You design each block....as you go

15 blocks stitched....half way there

30 Pick Up Stix Blocks

These are FUN and a great way to use

up some of those fabrics in your scrap bag.

Improv.....Technique 5

I am trying out another improv technique

Pick Up Stix

I pawed through the scrap bag and pulled out

my Marcia Derse fabric scraps...

these are so FUN and have a grunge look...

I found this marble/stone like fabric

in the cupboard...

I had enough to cut

30 squares @ 6 1/2 inches...

I cut the Marcia Derse fabrics into

1 inch strips...

It is now time to cut into the squares and

insert these strips...

This is the first pick up stix block...

I have lots more blocks to piece.

I will post again when the blocks are done.

We have been calving for 6 weeks now

and have 51 calves so far.

Here is some cuteness for you:

A beautiful heifer calf...

she is a keeper.

Golden Girl has a bull calf

that looks just like her !

We call this heifer calf...Beauty

Improv.....Technique 3

I am playing with a

stitch and flip improv technique...

I pawed through my scrap bag and picked out

all of the blues

that I thought would work together and

sliced them up into triangles....

I had a half yard piece of this white fabric

leftover from a table runner I made last month...

I cut it into 3 1/2 inch squares...

I think there are maybe 70 squares here.

Then I started piecing triangles

onto one corner of each white square:

With uneven triangles,

it was easy to get a wonky look.

Then I started playing around with

a few of the stitch and flip squares:

I am liking it !

Then I added additional triangles

to the center of the block:

Oooh....how FUN is that !

I have not pieced this together...

I want to play around with other design options

and see where it takes me.

Improv....Technique 2

I am working out of my scrap bag today...

I want to try creating Improv Flying Geese...

The goose rectangle is cut 5 1/5  x  3 1/2 inches

The background triangles can be cut from a 5

inches square or whatever triangles

you have in your scrap bag.

I had to really work at getting these

wonky shaped.

Do you see that pile of scraps

leftover from making the flying geese?

When you are not looking...

that pile of scraps breeds !

That pile of scraps turns into...

Baby Improv Flying Geese !

These were lots of FUN!
