Machine Quilting......Rayon Threads

I decided to play with Rayon Threads today...

Rayon Thread

I made up a quick sandwich with some

of my purple hand dyed fabric...

This is about a half yard in size.

I am using fusible fleece for batting.

I am working on my Bernina Artista 200

I am using an 80/12 teflon coated needle.

The rayon thread is quilting out beautifully.

Nearly done and the thread has

held up nicely....no shredding or breakage.

Robison-Anton Rayon Thread

This was so much fun,

I want to do more...

I am deciding on a second thread color

to do some over-stitching...

I will add a layer of 24 KT Gold

over the top of the previous stitching...

Oh, now I am getting excited !

I have always been partial to hyper-quilting...

also referred to as in-line quilting.

This is a before image

with only the blue thread...

Here is the after image with the gold thread...

Almost done...

Yummy !

Makes my heart sing !

Rayon Threads...

I might just have to turn this practice sandwich

into a finished project.....hmmm.

Clean off your Sewing Table Day.....

Every Monday I meet with the

to spend the day stitching...

There are 10 Quilters

that meet here on Mondays:

This is my sewing table...

As you can see,

I have been having a whole lot of FUN !

We have been meeting here for 7 years.

Everyone has their own table,

all of our sewing equipment lives here.

I have only cleaned off my table once in 7 years...

I decided TODAY is the day...

I will remove everything,

give it a good wipe down

and get a fresh start for 2020...

Drum Roll please.....

Look.....there is even room for me

to get in here now !

No more piles of bags on the floor...

A place to cut, a place to sew !

My little ironing surface is cleaned off...

Here is the best part:

the back side of the table is visible...

haven't seen that for years !

This looks so inviting...

This is what I will come back to

next Monday:

How yummy is this !

It took me a few weeks

to convince myself to do this.

I am glad I did.

It is a gift I gave myself.

Hexagon Table Runner......#3

English Paper Pieced.....Hexagons

I enjoy a hand piecing project when we travel,

so I am putting together a

take-a-long table runner.

After all of the paper hexagons are covered with

fabric, I put down a white piece of fabric and

arrange the table runner...

This is my third table runner,

and I still enjoy the process.

The pieces are all arranged,

but not sewn together just yet...

I pin each hexagon to the fabric base.

They will live on this fabric until they

are hand pieced together.

The fabric will not remain under the hexagons.

Once they are all pinned down,

this becomes a portable project and

the hexagons will stay in the proper order

for stitching.
