Sunny Western Oregon

We are enjoying lots of frosty nights and

sunny days here in Western Oregon...

We are across the river this morning feeding

one of the cow and calf herds...

We enjoy feeding in the sunshine,

rather than the rain and the mud...

The Cowboy is moving rock with the CAT:

We are getting a load of rock delivered

to the barn to prepare for the coming

rain and mud...

We are enjoying the last of the autumn color

in the front yard:

October Glory....Red Maple Tree

Please Enjoy the videos:

Vintage Baby Doll Beds...

I was recently gifted three

vintage baby doll beds

This is a handmade, all wooden, doll bed

approx 18 inches long.

The little girl who played with this

is now in her 80's.

This is a wooden cradle

that sits on a stand and rocks.

The little girl that played with this is now 50.

This little white wooden cradle

also belonged to her.

Or course, I had to fire up the sewing machine

and create bedding for all of these beds:

This bed needed a fluffy comforter...

Can you see the little white bunny tails

sticking up off the fabric?  Super FUN !

I made patchwork mattress pads and pillows

for both of the cradles...

Then I stitched up little pink flannel blankies...

Now add a little girl and some baby dolls

and lots of play time !

It is FUN to jump outside of my Quilters Box

and do some different stitching.

Dresden.....Extra Block

I finished up the Dresden Quilt Top

last week while I was in Idaho...

Dresden Quilt Top

I have developed a "good" habit of making

an extra block when piecing a quilt top.

I made a quick quilt sandwich with batting

and played around some on the

extra dresden block...

All of the negative space

behind the dresden plate

and in the pink sashing

just screamed for....FEATHERS !

The corners and center are cross hatched...

Large feather plumes on the dresden plate

and also surrounding the dresden plate

in the background...

I quilted this block on the Bernina Artista 200.

I will use the HandiQuilter Sweet 16

for the actual quilt.

The quilt sandwich consists of 2 layers of batting:

Wool batting with cotton batting underneath.

This makes for very plump feathers !

On Monday I will get the Dresden Quilt basted

and ready to go under the needle.

Scribble Stitch Cards...

A Day of Play with...

Stitch Cards

Fabric Stitch Cards

FUN with Fabric and Paper

Note Cards with Envelopes

The folded note cards measure 5 x 5 inches:

I placed a 5 inch charm square on top of the

unfolded note card,

then placed a smaller square of fabric on top.

I stitched a half circle shape using

black thread,

then trimmed the excess fabric.

I stitched 5 flower petals

onto the charm square...

Then trimmed away the excess fabric...

Then added additional stitching to the flower...

Fabric Stitch Card......done !

Scribble Stitching is....FUN !

Let's stitch a HOUSE...

Stitching the door on the house...

Window and door stitched...

Stitching a flower center...
