Bottle Babies...

This 2 month old twin calf number 25

is living @ our barn here @ home

and we are feeding him on a bottle...

He is lonely and bawls a lot.

The barn is next to our house, so we can

hear him....LOUD and CLEAR!

We made a trip to the dairy this week

and look what we brought home:

A day old Holstein bull calf...

He has super long legs and looks like a giraffe!

Number 25 likes him...

they sleep together in the barn

and number 25 doesn't bawl anymore.

I captured video of these 2 babies

you can view it below:

Twin bull calf....comes home

It has been 2 long months trying to keep

this cow and her twin calves together...

Mama Cow and her Twin Calves

Mama has never cared for her bull calf....

number 25

We have come to the pasture today

to check up on him...

He is alone, abandoned and hungry.

It is time to bring him home

and feed him on a bottle.

We are out in the pasture in the video below:

Moving Day......Twin Calves

For those of you who have been following

the story of Mama cow and her twins

for the past two months...

Today is moving day...

We will put both calves out to pasture

 with their mama...

We are hoping mama will feed BOTH twins,

up until now she has preferred the heifer calf

and not the bull calf.

Below is a video of moving them to pasture:

Whole Cloth....Design Work

I am putting together another

whole cloth design on paper:

Layer 1......Design Lines

36 inches square

The chickadee is my focal point...

Layer 2......feather motifs for the chickadee

Layer 3.....Fill Work

All of the design work on paper is complete.

I wish I could begin stitching...BUT

I am behind the wheel of the tractor

finishing up work in the hay fields:

I do love tractor work.....so I am happy

The fragrant lilacs are in full bloom

I was out in the cow pasture last evening

checking on the cattle...

There was a full moon...

My little Canon 50X camera

zoomed right in on it!

Trail Camera.....Bear Video

Whenever we run out of water at the house...

We know the water line Bear is back again...

We decided to set up a trail camera to see

just what the Bear is doing...

Here he has the water line in his teeth...

In the video:

He spends time rubbing his back side

on a tree trunk,

He rolls around with the water line

between his feet,

He eventually breaks the water line in two and

is delighted when water splashes out at him.

So glad we set up the trail camera...

this Bear is delightful and entertaining.

Elk and Cattle Grazing Together...

This time of year it is FUN to watch the elk

come into the pasture in the evenings

and graze alongside our cattle...

No time to set up the tripod...

so this is the best I can do hand held zooming.

One of the female elk was very interested

in two of our baby calves.

I captured the encounter on video...
