Wedding Star Quilt......Progress

Gunnr kept me company while I pieced on

the Wedding Star Quilt today...

Gunnr enjoyed looking out the window

as the cattle passed by...

I feel like I am coming into the home stretch

with this quilt...

All the star blocks are pieced:

I am now piecing the curved edges...

Curved Piecing...

22 more curved units and I will be done!

Yes...I feel like a race horse coming into

the home stretch!

Hexagon Baby Quilt.......Top Done

For the last month this little baby quilt top

has been a constant companion...

It has traveled with me...

I have been hand piecing everywhere I go.

94 Hexagons later...

it is ready for a border.

I chose lavender for the border:

I wanted straight edges, so I pieced in

half hexagons along the top and bottom...

I pieced in half diamonds along the sides...

Then I added a 3 inch border of lavender fabric.

I have plenty of yellow leftover for the binding...

I pawed through the fabric cupboard

and found pieces of flannel

that I seamed up for the back side...

I plan to machine quilt a

Clam Shell/Baptist Fan pattern.

Since this is a traditional style quilt, I thought

I would keep the quilting traditional as well.

Why machine quilt a hand pieced quilt?

* I create too many quilts to get them all

hand quilted in my lifetime.

* Hand Quilting irritates my carpal tunnel.

*  A baby quilt will hold up better with

machine quilting vs hand quilting.

Baby Hexagon Quilt Top...

It is all spray basted and ready

to go under the needle

of the Sweet Sixteen......very soon!

More to Come~

Wedding Star Quilt......Progress

I have been camped out at the

Quilting Palace

for the last 8 days...

I am determined to get some piecing done on the

I was snow bound all week...

There was a good hot fire to keep me warm...

I had my trusty Singer 301...

Gunnr stayed cozy by the fire...

I pieced the quilt for 8 days straight...

Robins just outside the window...

After 8 days.....I am making some progress!

Feeding Freckles...

We woke up to SNOW this morning...

View from the livingroom window...

Just outside the front door...

The yearling cattle are at the yard fence...

Brad heads out in the field with a bucket of grain...

Freckles hurries over to meet him...

It is time for her breakfast...

Brad heads back into the house

for his own breakfast...

Brad gives Gunnr a pat

and they walk home together...

I can watch Freckles and the Calves

from the kitchen window
