Feelin' Groovy........Done

Day 13

My last stitches are in the
Feelin' Groovy Quilt

10 pm......the binding is stitched on

In 13 days I have stitched a bed quilt to
celebrate our youngest son's birthday on Monday.

Gunnr is asleep on it right now...
I guess Heath will be the second one to sleep with this quilt.

Good Night...

Feelin' Groovy.........Binding

Day 13

This is my last day to stitch into this quilt...
I get a little sappy at this stage of the process.

This is the fabric for the binding...

These Marcia Derse Fabrics have been a great deal
of FUN to work with!

Binding....cut, pieced, pressed and ready to sew on

The binding feeds flawlessly from the coffee can

All of the machine work is done...
It's time to stitch the back side on by hand

Superior Threads Bottom Line
is my favorite for hand sewing bindings.
You can barely see the thread and it rarely tangles ever.

Next week....the pink baby quilt on the design wall
gets feathers all over it!

I get quite a few questions about the
Handi Quilter Sweet 16 Mid Arm Machine.
I thought it would be easier to answer them here:

Bobbin on the left is Sweet 16 Class M

Bobbin on the right is Bernina

The Class M Bobbins are BIG...
They hold a LOT more thread

Which means a lot less stopping, cutting threads, etc.
LOVE the Class M Bobbins

Someone is getting impatient:

Gunnr is ready to call it a day in the Thread Shed

This is where I will spend the evening
hand stitching the binding to the back side of the quilt.

Have a Good Night...

Feeling Groovy.......Border Quilting

Day 12

This has been a lot of FUN to quilt!~
Today I spent the day machine quilting the borders:

It took a great deal of hours to complete the quilting on the center
portion of the quilt....very heavily quilted.
(my son could put this in his trunk with a spare tire on it
and it wouldn't hurt this quilt a bit!)

I am excited to finally get to the quilting on the borders:

The green border fabric helps show off all of the stitching.

I am not alone today in the Thread Shed:

The yearling cattle are just outside the window at the barn.

The UPS man pulled down the driveway this afternoon
with this:

I dropped my Nikon a few weeks ago.....eek!
It has been at the camera hospital.
It's back home and working great again!

Thank You

To help with the Nikon separation anxiety...

I have been using our 7 year old Olympus point and shoot.
Thanks to this little camera I was able to keep up with the images
for this blog.

Let's give the Nikon a work out to see how
the repairs went:

I rarely use a flash when photographing quilted textiles.
The flash washes out all of the fabric colors.
The Nikon works well in low light conditions.

6pm.....I am calling it quits for today:

I will spend the weekend binding and labeling
Feelin' Groovy

Monday I will surprise our youngest son on his birthday!

Baby Chicks......3 Weeks

The Peeps are 3 weeks:

They are no longer little cotton balls with legs...

They are all feathered out.....even tail feathers!

They take turns roosting on top of the chicken waterer

and sleeping on top of their feeders

They run, flap their wings and try and fly across
the 8 foot brooder box.

They are a constant source of entertainment for Gunnr!

I continue to machine quilt the
3 more days and it should be done.
