Thickened Dye......Part 1

Last Thursday I printed with thickened dye...

Today I made the time to get them washed up:

This piece was scraped with a credit card

then stamped with a cup

After batching for 3 days it is ready to rinse out...

When I pulled it off the print board...

check out the print directly under it:

I decided to remove the print board cover

and process it as well.

When I pulled off the second print,

the print board itself was printed also...

1 print went through 3 layers of fabric...

This is the bottom layer.....

I cut the top off my print board so I could process it...

My print board is down to the batting layers...

I need to re-cover it with fabric,

but it is worth it!

Everything went into the washer and dryer:

Time to heat up the iron and get it pressed...

Here are the final fabrics:

1st layer print

2nd layer print

3rd layer print

Here are a few more fabrics created with thickened dye:

Printed, still wet....ready to batch

I printed the screen with chartreuse green dye:

Here is the washed and dried fabric.......chartreuse green

Circle Screens......ready to print:

Here they are printed and ready to batch:

Here it is washed and dried:

Thermofax Printing on Black Aprons

The Art Sisters are at the Quilt Palace today...

We are in need of new art aprons...

We gathered up the thermofax screens....

We have our favorite screen printing inks...

We are off and running:

Virginia is using Versatex Metallic Bronze ink....

Kathi is using Versatex Metallic Silver Ink...

Nancy is taping off a stencil

to apply her name to her apron...

I am using Versatex Metallic Gold Ink...

I mixed up a non-metallic blue ink

with Versatex Metallic Pearl Ink to

create the light blue ink for the flowers and feather.

New Aprons.....yummy!

Quilted Snap Bags

I attended a Quilt Retreat @ the Palace last week...

My sister, aunt and I decided to create Snap Bags

assembly line and factory style.

We made 39 snap bags!

I cut out the bags and quilted them.

My sister and aunt cut the metal measure tapes

and did all of the construction.

You can watch a video of the machine quilting

by clicking the video link below:

Your P2P Instructor:  Nancy Bryant

This is Nancy's 8th year leading P2P Classes

Nancy began her demonstration

with a lesson in value:

Black to White Pear

This was a great help to the students

when they began designing their own pears.

Cartoon sheets......to help with pattern placement

Pre-Fused Fossil Fern Fabrics

The projects will be mounted on canvas stretched frames

After the demonstration...

The students dug right into the pre-fused fabrics...

Nancy assisted the students with their fabric and value choices
