Zinnia Raffle Quilt......2

How could I NOT be in a good mood while working

on this oh-so-colorful Quilt?

It makes me happy just to look at it...

I had to put it away for a few months...

It is now back under the needle...

I am having more fun than I deserve...

I am feathering it to my heart's content...

yum-yum-yummy!

This quilt will be raffled off in 2014...

The proceeds will benefit the

Women's Cancer Coalition

This has been a cheerful project for me!

Zinnia Quilt

Many of you have wondered what Gunnr is up to:

He is his always sweet and gentle self...

He makes us laugh each day...

He loves everyone...

He loves his blue ball...

Now he has to take a nap.......goodnight.

Quilting Sketch Book.....Piggy Back Feather

Another Feather Design from

my Quilting Sketch Book...

Piggy Back Feather:

I enjoy stitching piggy back plumes

on the back side of the previous plume.

Midway down on this feather, you can

see that I have reversed the direction of the

plumes...piggy backing them.

This is a favorite way to stitch out a feather!

This feather started out like this:

Chalk out this spine, then add plumes.

Quilting Sketch Book.....Bump Back Feathers

Another Feather from My Sketch Book

of Quilting Designs:

Bump Back Feather:

I learned to do this Bump Back technique

after watching online videos.

It has quickly become my favorite way to

stitch out feathers on my quilts.

Quilting Sketch Book....Feathers Filling Space

A few more sketches...

I enjoy choosing a shape like a square,

rectangle, circle, etc...

then filling that given space with feathers.

Stuff the space full of plumes!

This will help you fill the available space

on your quilt top when machine quilting.

A long rectangle filled with plumes...

This is what the spine looked like

before I added the plumes:

Give it a try!

This is a great way to practice filling space.
