Mowing the 2nd Hay Field...

This is a big hay field so...

we are cutting half the field today

The Cowboy is mowing it in half,

he can drive in a straight line...

me, not so much !

The Cowboy is making some final

adjustments to the mower...

I am off and running:

This is what the field looks like

after I have mowed for a few hours...

After 6 or 7 hours I am getting

closer to the middle of the field...

Tractors don't turn tight corners,

so when I get to a corner I cut straight across,

leaving a narrow strip of grass.

Then I go back and mow out the corners.

This is Polly with her new calf Pollyanna

Pollyanna will make a beautiful

replacement heifer next year.

The John Deere has excellent A/C

so I stay nice and comfortable while  mowing.

Project Bag...

Project Bags for Quilters

I love this pattern !

I have made 10 of these bags and

plan to make lots more...

This is the back of the bag.

There is foam in between the fabric

and it is quilted in a grid pattern...

The quilting shows up better on the

green lining fabric...

I have the vinyl cut for the front of the bag...

I have the zipper pieces all ready to stitch...

Just need to stitch the

front of the bag together...

Here it is bound with the handle attached.

Quilters Project Bag

20 x 20 inches

I have made several for myself and

a few more for my friends and family.

Here is some cuteness for you:

This Baby Bull just melts my heart...

He is the grandson to my very favorite cow,

Golden Girl

No more sitting in front of my sewing machine...

I am saddled up to the John Deere

mowing more hay fields.

Baling Hay @ The Kessi Ranch

Hay making season...

Our round hay bales are

5 feet x 6 feet and weight 1,000 lbs.

The Cowboy bales the hay

in this red round baler.

The door on the back opens up...

The bale starts to roll out the back ...

Poof.....all ready for the cattle to eat this winter

When we make repairs on the baler,

we have to crawl inside to work on it...

it is like being inside a large elevator.

I spent the day on the old Ford Tractor

raking the hay into wind rows...

This is what the field looks like

after it has been raked...

it is all ready for the Cowboy to come along

and bale it up.

The John Deere tractor straddles the

wind rows and the baler follows behind

and picks up the hay and rolls it up

into a giant round hay bale.

Foxgloves growing along the edges

of the hay field...

sometimes you see a white one !

Foxglove growing along side

the machine shed at the barn lot...

Our little valley is overflowing with

Foxglove this time of year...

inside each and every petal !

Black Eyed Suzy & Hay Raking...

This has been my Wednesday quilt project...

I have been pecking away at it since February.

The last time I shared images,

I had completed 6 flower blocks...

My pecking is paying off...

Every Wednesday I would add another flower

to the design wall...

All 16 flower blocks are done...

I have started the borders.

The Cowboy hooked up the hay rake...

The hay has been mowed for several days

and it is time to rake it into wind rows...

Here we go!

These foxgloves grow like weeds

all around the edges of the hay fields...

Gorgeous!
