Mod TV Quilt...

I meet with my local quilt group

on Wednesdays...

Mod TV Quilt

I have been stitching this together

once a week since January...

How FUN is this !

Disregard the Periwinkle Quilt on the design wall,

I am putting the Mod TV Blocks

on top of it...

These are put together improv style...

Next week I will applique' the TV screens

onto the center of each block...

We have been getting a dusting of snow

here in out little valley...

This is the view out the front of the house...

This is the view out the back of the house...

Those large white barns across the river

are our calving barns...

The cows will begin calving in 3 weeks.

Feather Table Runner...

I am in the mood for applique'

I recently purchased this feather pattern...

I cut all the feather shapes from

Jelly & Jam Fabric by Fig Tree...

The pieces are backed with fusible web...

All of the pieces have been pressed into place

on the white background fabric...

All of the shapes have been stitched

all the way around...

It is sandwiched with batting and

spray basted with 505 Spray...

I started out quilting swirls on the feathers...

I am happy with it already !

White thread on white fabric...

time for some FUN quilting

quilting shows up so nicely on fabrics

that read solid...

I had no quilting plan...

I just had FUN !

the quilt truly comes alive with

machine quilting...

This is the back side of the runner...

Working on the binding...

The Table Runner is finished...

This is the BEFORE image...

This is the AFTER image...

Quilting definitely makes the Quilt!

It's not a Quilt until it is Quilted !

Weed Eaters...

The Cowboy built our red barn in 1989

and filled it with horses...

Now it is home to our Boer Goats...

They are our weed eaters,

nibbling on the blackberries and thistles

in the pasture...

Bear Paws...

I am making Bear Paw Blocks this week:

Bear Paw Block

I am using them as a border treatment

for this High Horses panel...

Here is my fabric pull for this project;

Green Background Fabric
Assorted Brown Fabrics

I chose this Bear Paw pattern because it offered

cutting directions for a 7 inch block...

It also gave directions to make

8 bias squares at once...

I assembly line press the bias squares

then use a clapper to keep the blocks flat...

I use a Bloc Loc ruler to trim the

bias squares to the proper size...

I trim them on a mini mat

so I can turn it easily while trimming,

never having to move the actual bias square...

I also lay the block pieces out onto a

flannel design board to keep them

in the proper order...

Once on the flannel board,

I can transport the pieces from the

cutting table to the sewing machine

to the ironing board...

Again, using the clapper to

keep the seams nice and flat after pressing

with the iron...

Bear Paw Block

I need 22 Bear Paw Blocks

for this border treatment...

This is the second time I am creating a quilt

from this High Horses panel...

that's a story for another time.

I have been posting new cattle videos

to my Instagram feed

Periwinkle Quilt Top....DONE !

I spent a few days last week piecing together

all of the Periwinkle blocks...

Here is the top laying on the work table...

These are all hand cut pieces...

not paper pieced

With all of the bias cut edges,

this was challenging to line up

all of the pieces and make them fit...

I pawed through the fabric cupboards

and auditioned border fabrics...

I am going with the yellow inner border

and the Marcia Brady Flower Power outer border.

The yellow inner border is on...

It is ready for the outer border...

Here I am at the big board

pressing the first outer border...

The Flower Power fabric is just right...

This is a good winter project...

it looks like Spring !

I pawed through the fabric cupboards

in search of backing fabrics and came up

empty handed...

I found a mint green 108 inch backing online...

I will have to be patient and wait until

the mail arrives.
