Dresden Plate...Progress

I haven't shared my progress on the

Dresden Plate quilt for awhile...

All 400 of those petals have been sewn into

20 dresden rings...

This is what my sewing table looks like today...

I am layering fusible stabilizer

face to face with the rings,

then stitching them together...

I prefer the Pellon Fusible Featherweight

for this technique...

it turns those curved edges so nicely.

After the stitching is complete,

I trim away the excess stabilizer...

Now it is ready to turn right side out...

The ring and the center are both right side out...

The plate is nearly 14 inches round...

I am thinking I will cut at least a

16 inch background square

for the block.

They are piling up...

That's as far as I went today...

next time I will cut the

white background squares.

40 calves on the ground as of today.

Hexy Table Runner.....DONE

Remember this?

I started it back in February...

It was my evening hand piecing project,

I also stitched it while traveling to town...

Here it is 8 weeks later:

Ta-Done!

163 hexagons

There are 3 layers:

Hexagons
100% cotton Batting
Red Felt

I stitched invisible applique'

around the outside edge

with Superior Monopoly thread.

The felt was trimmed down to 1/4 inch

all the way around the outside edge.

It is on our table

and really brightens up the kitchen !

We are still in the middle of calving season.

Everything is going just great !

Calving...Spring 2019

Spring has arrived here in Western Oregon

The pastures are full of cow and calf pairs

The camellia bush is in full bloom

A new calf is born...

Mama cow cleans her new baby...

Vern...2 year old steer
(bottle calf from 2 years ago)

also comes by to help clean the new calf.

An eagle perches along the river looking for fish

A calf snuggles up against mama

The calves gang up to play!

The grass is greening up,

the cattle are grazing more and eating less hay,

summer is on the way.

I continue to stitch Dresden Plate blocks...

I will share images.....soon!
