Raffle Quilt…..Binding

The machine quilting is completed

on the 2015 WCC Raffle Quilt

Summer Breeze Quilt

Created by The Harlan Valley Quilters in Oregon

This was a FUN one to quilt…

It is ready for the binding:

Scrappy Binding from leftover 2.5 inch strips

I bind with my Bernina because it is surrounded

by work tables to support a big quilt

The Thread Shed is located in front of the barn.
The horses and cattle keep me company while I stitch.

The binding is on the front side of the quilt…

I am stitching on a hanging sleeve and label today.

The weather looks perfect

for an outdoor photo shoot of this quilt.

More photos to come…

I took my camera along this morning

while feeding the cattle herd

We are feeding at the Westfork Barn:

I took some video of feeding the Cows and Calves...

Raffle Quilt…..Machine Quilting

I scurried out to the Thread Shed early this morning

to get going with the machine quilting

on the 2015 raffle quilt donated to

The Women's Cancer Coalition

I will mark a stem line as a guide

for the big leaf vine design…

Today I am using a blue marker

I don't stitch the stem line….

it is only a guide for my free motion leaves

I drew out some feathers

but have decided to go with the leaf vine

I echo quilted around the leaf vine after it was all stitched…

After all of the vines are stitched out…

I will stitch horizontal lines between the vines.

All of the vines have been quilted and I started on the horizontal lines (forgot to take an image).

I am hoping to finish the quilting on this tomorrow.

I will post images soon!

The autumn fog is back…

It gathers along the river just below the back yard.

I love to watch the sun come up and burn off the fog

The blue jays are feasting on sunflower seeds in the yard.

Double Wedding Ring Quilts...

Spending time today with my

Double Wedding Ring Quilt…

I should say…..the many pieces

of my Double Wedding Ring Quilt!

I need to complete 199 football units

for a queen size quilt top…

My dearest friend Linda is also torturing herself

with a DWR Quilt

Linda is spending the day cutting more pieces…

I am spending the day assembly line sewing little pieces…

Wish us LUCK!

Even though it is the first day of autumn

We enjoyed our morning coffee outdoors

We watched the sunrise from the back yard…

The sun is coming up over Mary's Peak

Gunnr and the new pony, Dollar….

are become friends at the fence.

The flower beds don't know it is autumn….

just as beautiful as they were all summer long!

The morning glory vines

are putting on a show this morning!

I am using Sharlene Jorgenson's DWR templates

Raffle Quilt…..Ready to go under the Needle

I spent the morning

preparing this raffle quilt for machine quilting

505 Spray Baste……the only way to baste for me

Scrappy Binding ready to go…

Extra leftover backing fabric for the hanging sleeve

Love the Glide thread!

Linen for the top thread…

Cream for the bobbin thread…

I decided to quilt my big leaf vine on the vertical rows

of the quilt with Linen color thread...

After the vines are quilted,

I will go back in and stitch horizontal lines

between the vines.  This will press down the background

and make the vines pop out…

Here are some Big Leaf variations from my Sketch Book:

I am always happy to share a bit of inspiration with you!
