Hexagon Text Quilt......more progress

I thought I would catch you up on the Hexagon Quilt...

Last week the quilt consisted of 100 Hexagons...

It has been so refreshing working with the

letter and number fabrics

The soft, neutral fabrics are so soothing

After 6 days on the couch sneezing, sniffling and stitching...

I counted 331 Hexagons tonight.

I am hoping to be on the sunny side of life tomorrow,

so I can head out to the thread shed and find border fabrics.

p.s.  If you took my EPP class in October, I would love to see

the progress you have made on your Hexagon Quilt!

Hexagon Text Quilt......Progress

Here is a progress report on the Hexagon Quilt I started

in October...

I started this piece as a sample for a class...

I was so involved in teaching....I didn't snap one photo during class.

The students enjoyed learning English Paper Piecing...

I enjoyed sharing my passion for EPP...

Unfortunately, what I took away from class was a

head cold.....yuck!

So....here I am today, on the couch stitching and sneezing.

Sketch Book.....Filled Spine Designs

The last of the Filled Spine Designs

from my Sketch Book:

I became addicted to drawing out the Filled Spine Designs

Each design lead to the next and the next...

I hope you will try drawing out a hollow spine,

then filling it in with a FUN design.

Sketch Book.....Feathers w/Filled Spine

Feathers w/Filled Spines

These have a botanical flavor to them:

This could be treated as a feather or a vine...

Great motif for a botanical themed quilt...

The plumes are shaped like leaves.

The spine is filled with clam shell shapes.

Sketch Book....Feathers w/Filled Spines

A few more Feathers w/Filled Spines

This would be FUN to stitch out on black fabric

with gold thread......yummy!

This spine is filled with curly coils.

These are cat's claw feathers.

It is amazing how many different designs you

can draw to fill in a spine.

A filled spine adds so much to the feather motif.

Feathers w/Filled Spines....More to Come!

Lots of autumn color here in Western Oregon:

The Grape Arbor is glowing with color!

Gunnr smelling the Grapes...

Gunnr munching on Grapes....yummy!
