Raw Edge Baby Quilt 2.......Machine Quilting

Day 5

Yesterday I machine quilted Baby Quilt 1.

Today I am quilting Baby Quilt 2...

I quilted innie and outies in the background.

These are a lot of FUN to stitch out!

The heart on the left has been quilted...

No quilting on the heart on the right yet.

The gray inner border is quilted with swirls.

The outer border is quilted with plumes.

Lots of yummy texture on this baby quilt!

I have leftover gray fabrics

I will use for a scrappy binding treatment.

No time for the binding today...

More to come!

Raw Edge Baby Quilts.....Machine Quilting

Day 4......Baby Quilts

The borders are on both baby quilts...

I had enough of the background fabric

to use for outer borders.

Baby Quilt 2 has borders

Ralph seems to like the baby quilts

I found 2 flannel fabrics in the cupboard

to use for backings:

I spray basted both quilts and they are

ready to go under the needle!

The layered hearts in the center of each block

are only glued down.

I machine quilted them leaving the edges free

to unravel in the washer and dryer.

The background is heavily quilted

with tiny swirls...

The outer borders are quilted with large spirals...

The quilts will be washed and dried 3 times

so they will shrink up, the edges will fray

and get very soft and yummy.

It is 6:00 and I am ready to

head home for the day.

Tomorrow I will quilt the pink heart quilt.

The quilt on the left is un-quilted.

The quilt on the right is quilted...

The quilting definitely makes the Quilt!

Ralph is really checking out my quilting stitches:

He makes me a bit paranoid

about my quilting skills!

Raw Edge Baby Quilt......Progress

Day 3.....Baby Quilts

I am piecing corner triangles

onto all of the heart blocks

This quilt has turquoise triangles

that create a block on point.

This quilt has gray triangles

Time to audition the inner border fabrics:

The center triangles begged

for more gray fabrics...

I followed suit with the turquoise fabrics

I begin piecing the inner borders

onto the quilt top...

Something is bugging me...

I start removing and replacing hearts on the quilt

on the right side of the photo.

This is what the quilt on the right side looks like now:

Ahhhh.....it doesn't bug me any longer.

I took all of the pinks out......much better.

More to Come!

Raw Edge......Baby Quilt

The fabrics are all pulled...

I am ready to begin creating the

Baby Girl Quilt.

I am hoping these geometric fabrics will give

the quilt a bit of a modern appearance.

I am cutting raw edge hearts...

in 3 different sizes

The hearts will be layered in this fashion.

I dove right in cutting background squares...

and designing the raw edge heart blocks.

I had so much FUN...

I am creating two baby quilts!

More to come tomorrow...

Inspiration for a New Quilt...

Sometimes I look back on some

of my previous quilts

for a bit of inspiration for my next quilt...

In 2008 I created this raw edge flower quilt

for my sister.

Quilt Label

I did some Back Art with the leftover fabrics.

This was so much FUN I made another one!

A raw edge heart quilt for my niece

Once washed, the quilt puckers up

from shrinking...

the raw edges unravel...

it is yummy to cuddle up with!

Quilt Label....photo when she was 7 years...

10 years later.....graduating from high school.

In 2013 I made another raw edge quilt for our sweetie pie daughter in law:

Raw Edge Flowers

Even after making three....

these are still FUN to create!

I haven't made a raw edge quilt

for quite some time.

I seemed to have enjoyed it...

I guess it is time to make another!

This raw edge quilt will be for a Baby Girl:

I went shopping in the Thread Shed cupboards...

This is as close as I could get to baby-ish fabrics.

Also in my cupboard, I found 3 yards of the

white fabric w/dots

for the background.

I cut a few raw edge hearts...

I have a game plan!

More tomorrow...
