Quilting Sketch Book.....FUN
Here are a few designs from
my Quilting Sketch Book:
It is FUN for me to draw wavy horizontal
lines in the sketch book...
then fill in the sections with different designs.
This mindless drawing helps me determine
what designs will work under the needle.
I chose these two designs and paired
them together.....they flow nicely.
This looks too busy...
but, if it were stitched with matching thread,
it would look great....lots of texture!
Draw out some wavy horizontal lines...
then fill them in and see what you
come up with.

Even after spending the day in the hay field or
working cattle,
Gunnr still finds time to play with his toys
in the evenings.

Working Cattle.....July 2013
This week we are working the cattle...
I come along to do the grunt work...
filling ear tag pliers and syringes.
I hope to be back in the Thread Shed
with something FUN under the needle real soon!

Quilting Sketch Book......Feathers
Feathers are always a favorite motif
on my quilts...
Here are 4 different ways to stitch out
a feather:

Feather 1 is my go to feather!
I learned this style years ago from
Feather 2 I rarely stitch out...
back tracking over previous stitching
is tedious and boring for me.
Feather 3 is quickly becoming my favorite.
Feather 4 is a great beginners feather.
No back tracking at all.

Feather 3......stitched out again
even if you look closely, you rarely see any thread
build up around the edge of the plumes.
This feather stitches out quickly
and has a traditional look to it.
