Foiling on Fabric......Class Prep

I spent the afternoon doing some class prep work:

I am teaching Foiling on Fabric

Thursday, May 23, 2013

JanniLou Creations Quilt Shop, Philomath Oregon

Wisteria leaves foiled on fabric......very FUN!

If you look real close you can see I foiled

Bo Nash 007 Crystals

Jones Tones Foil Glue works very well...

Jones Tones Foil Sheets

The tree was created with Fusible Web

I found some metallic fabric in the cupboard

that will work for a border on the tree piece...

I found some shiny gold fabric for the border

on the wisteria leaves...

I am calling it a day...

This awaits me in the morning......more to come!

This is Pig Henry...

He lives just down the road...

He likes to be scratched and have his picture taken.

Women's Cancer Coalition

Cutting the Deck...

Shuffling the Deck...

By the end of the day we nearly completed the top:

I meet with them again tomorrow,

so there is more to come!

Look what is going on right now

just outside the back door:

Tiny starlings have this eagle on the move!

Quilt Photo Shoot...

We spent the day photographing quilts.

I prefer natural lighting, so we went outdoors...

Brad and Gunnr hung the quilts while I set up

the camera equipment...

First came the wind, then the rain.

Gunnr is doing his best to hold the quilt in place.

We took all the equipment down

and waited out the weather:

Gunnr is sticking out his tongue...

He doesn't think much of photographing quilts.

Eventually the weather cooperated and we were able

to get all of the quilts photographed.

Now to edit all of those photos...

2013 Challenge Quilt.....Part 4

Auditioning another gray fabric...

This isn't pieced just yet....

the blocks are pinned on top

This is a close up of the 6th gray fabric

 I am auditioning

for the bottom window fabric...

I will leave it up on the design wall for a few days...

It will let me know if it is the right one.

We are in the middle of

remodeling our master bath:

This cast iron tub was made in 1919

It originally came from the Eugene Hotel

(Eugene, OR)

It also had several other owners along the way who

added a coat or two of paint to it.

Today we restored it to it's original brilliance:

I think it is happy now!

2013 Challenge Quilt.....Part 3

I removed all of the lower sill fabric...

I am abandoning this lay out...

I went to town and brought home

new window fabrics to audition...

This is a Stonehenge Fabric....I love it.....

but it is too dark

I lose the 3D attic window I am trying to create.

This is a medium gray.....

but I think it is too textured...

Another medium gray.....again, too textured...

Another medium gray.....much calmer...

might work...

One last medium gray.....

gives a good 3D appearance.

I will live with it on the design wall for a few days

before I stitch it up.

Lots of activity at the goat barn this Spring:

Mama Goat and Twins

While the mothers are out to pasture...

The babies gang up around one mama.

This kid goat was very curious about my camera.
