Big Flower Quilt.....Progress

Remember this Big Hexy Flower?

I chose these 4 lime green fabrics
for the background hexies...

I put the light green background hexies
up on the design wall with the BIG Flowers:

they look NEON green......eeek!

After looking at this on the design wall
for the last 2 months, I took them all down.

I found a richer, calmer green fabric
and wrapped it around the hexy papers:

Ahhh....much better.

There is a bed sheet under the hexagons.
They will be pinned onto the sheet.
Then I can keep them in order as I
hand piece the hexagons.

This is a bed quilt and will finish

102 inches square.

Lots of hand piecing for these cold winter nights.

  1. When I saw the first picture, it was so bright but I liked it. I thought maybe you were trying to make a statement like "let the sunshine in". LOL That would definitely brighten up a room! I kept going back and forth looking and the two. You obviously made a good decision in changing the green hexies. Have you thought about the quilting? I am sure you have! I really do like those big hexies. I might have to put that on my bucket list.
