I call these...
Peek-a-Boo Bags
This is my second time working with vinyl...
I purchased clear vinyl from Joann Fabrics...
I used a Sizzix Big Shot Plus
to cut the heart shapes from adhesive backed vinyl
then stuck it onto the clear vinyl...
I used some of my orphan beads
to create the zipper pulls...
I sewed zipper tabs onto the ends of the zippers
to keep the top corners of the bags nice and square...
I also squared off the bottom corners
so the bags can stand up on their own...
I am attending a Quilt Retreat in Idaho soon
and will take these along as quilter gifts....FUN !

Stinking cute!! I've been meaning to get out my vinyl I bought last year but still haven't used. Guess it's time! Thanks for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lynda. I have a teflon foot for my sewing machine, you can also put a piece of scotch tape on the sole of your sewing foot and that works too. Have FUN!

What a great gift! The heart appliques and beaded zipper pulls make these extra special.

These are fabulous!!! Our quilt retreat in Idaho got cancelled...she can't get the girls who help her to come and clean there with COVID. I want to go to your retreat! What is a zipper tab and how do you attach them??
ReplyDeleteHi Farm Quilters, That is a great question! I have added 2 links to this blog post. The first one is how to create a zipper tab. The second link is at the bottom of the post and shows you why you need zipper tabs and how to actually stitch them into a bag. Once you try this method of installing a zipper, you will never do it any other way. Huge difference in the way the zipper looks and also ease of installing it.

ReplyDeleteMany thanks for your comment.

LuAnn do you use a machine needle that one would use for leather or just a regular needle?
ReplyDeleteHi Ally, Just use a regular needle, it goes right through it like butter.
