Our 30 year old Pie Cherry Tree
lost a few limbs
in the winter storms...
The tree limbs fell on the board fence,
making easy access for the yearling cattle
to get into the front yard.....eek!
Today is clean up day...
The cherry tree needs a good pruning anyway.
Anytime we work in the front yard,
it becomes a spectator sport for the
yearling cattle...
They find most anything we do...
terribly interesting.
Even the bottle calves come up
to the fence to check out what's going on...
Those tree limbs fill up the back
of the pick up bed...
Even Sparky the rooster comes to investigate...
In no time, the cowboy has new fence boards
in place...
You know what that means...
time to paint the fence!

That's so funny... we once had a cow that would come and snuffle in my hair when I'd be working near the fence line. I don't think she liked my gel because she would always sneeze on me! Ewewe
ReplyDeleteLove how the yearlings are so interested in what you are doing and how they took off when the chain saw fired up! They are so cute. That cherry wood will make some good smoking wood in the autumn! When we had a few steers, we found they could jump over 5-6 foot fences when they wanted to go on a walk-about! Another farmer found them on his land about 10 miles away!!! I didn't know they were into jumping - good thing the horses are willing to stay in their pasture, most of the time!

ReplyDeleteIt's always something on a ranch, isn't it. Once my young nephew was visiting and he asked if the cows were all for sale. "No" I replied, "Why do you ask that?" He said, "Because they all have price tags in their ears!"
